Going through some things the other day and opened an old cigar box that held some cool post cards from the past.  I seem to remember getting these about 20 years ago through the Volkswagen museum...

Very cool Sarge! Grin  I have a drinking glass from a Mobil Gas Station back when they gave stuff away when you bought there gas, with a picture of a VW on it. When I get a chance I'll take a picture of it and post it.  It's a very old piece like your cards...

NICE! Great pic of a Euro late model. Vents just forward of the cowling, on the hood, suggest even later.

Touchè! Good eye, Tom. Indeed, it is. My family bought two of those... one, brand new, in 1968. And the second one in 1980. Both '68 models. I remember 'em both well. I gotta find the pic of my Dad and me, waxin' the new '68 on our front lawn. That was the car he taught me to detail on. And probably why I'll always dig on Savannah Beige cars.

My folks bought a new Savannah Beige '66 directly from Germany back in the day.  I remember heading down to Long Beach with my Dad to pick up the car out of a sea of VW's...and my elation at getting to put the first 100 miles on the clock in exchange for detailing the car.  Well, the cosmoline kicked my ass BIG TIME...must have went through two bucks worth of quarters at the 25 cent car wash.  Nobody told me about using a little kerosene in a pail of water...my Dad's FAVORITE story  Roll Eyes

Here's another oldie...
