what is for you a true and true callook colour? or does anything go?
i think black cars look really great, but would they still look that good in a different colour. if black is done good, it really looks a mile deep and shows all the curves of the car. but everytime i look at a black car i look for flaws. just because it is black. so maybe it is not my alltime favorite colour.
what is yours?

Black is beautiful!

I once thought about designing a pair of sunglasses that would make all red cars look primer gray.  Grin

It's hard to de-chrome a car in black.... they can easily look "cheap"...
Thats why I prefer any color to black on a de-chromed looker....

BUT, I had the chance to look closely at Brintons car at Nick's, and that car has IT!  Shocked

black just doesnt really do it for me...sorry!

maybe it's because i think it looks kinda anonymous...i like my cars to look a little more 'flamboyant'...

i always seem to end up painting my bugs various shades of green.......seems to really work on an early car IMHO.

In my opinion, true Cal Look is subtle ("anonymous"), a wolf in sheep's clothing, not flamboyant. I love black cars as well as Zenith Blue, VW Blue, Sea Blue, Java Green, Garnet Red, Guards Red and a few factory Porsche colors

There are so many cool paint colors out these days that it's hard for me to choose a favroite.  I've always been a fan of black for any car, though, especially something like a black '67 bug with a red interior or a black first generation camaro.

I would say White  is one of the most traditional "cal-look" colors

  some of my favorites are.
  1.  Savanah beige
  2. Sea sand
  3. Garnet red
  4. coral red
  5. agave green
  6. Beryl green
  7. Bahama blue
  8. anthrasite
  9. dove blue
 10. gulf blue
 11. Black

I like a black car with red interior I wouldn't want black myself though too much work. I really have a soft spot for tan cars. And white will always do it for me too thanks to my Dad.  White is always nice and clean. Beryl green is also a cool color very rarely seen.

Only reason I am not going with black for my '67 is I don't think I can get the body straight enough. But black cars kick ass.

I rest my case.  Grin

Beryl looks better on vintage cars. It also kicks butt on notches.

Black cars rock but you do have to get the body work right, my uncle made me redo the bondo on my first bug so many times before he would finally paint it. I think it paid off Wink

I think black really suits the lines of a bug, doesn't matter about the year or level of trim - it just looks ace! I'd love to paint my '70 black, and put in a stock red interior but I know the car isn't straight enough. Sad

Speaking of black bugs, one of my friends just bought a black '66 with a red interior. I haven't seen it yet, but supposedly it's original and has around 60,000 miles on it. It even has the dealer window sticker still with it. He says it just needs paint. I'll post pictures of iut when I see it.
