--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I would like to take the time out and thank every member of DKPIII for awarding my Dad and I the 2008 club choice trophy.
My Dad and I have been working on this car for almost 5 years  (off and on).  When we started building we had no Idea what we were getting into and where the project would take us. Up to that point I had the most experiance working on cars, vws mainly, and at 19 years old I had a lot to learn.  My Dad had never worked on a vw in his life,  actually any car other than standard tune ups and tire rotations.  We baught the '64 from the original owner and it was probably one of the reasons that we ever finished it. It was 100% complete and it great shape.  We took our time restoring it because one,  we wanted it to be very nice and two,  WE HAD NO IDEA WHAT WE WERE DOING.  I had a good idea what I wanted it to look like but getting there was a long difficult process.

Most of you dont know that my dad really had no interest in vws about 11 years ago when I started buying hot vws and vw trends,  But still he would take me or I would drag him to every vw meet around. beeing 13-14 years old at the time It was awesome to have him take me all of the places DKP was at and I used to pester those guys all day.  Most just assume I am into vws because my dad is, seeing him and I at every event we attend  very rarely is it just me.  But it is the other way around I got him into it, and him beeing closer to evreyones age they usually talk to him before me. I guess he just fgot the "bug" and before long we were elbow deep in nuts and bolts, wires and connectors, powder coat and chrome.

I am very happy with the way the car came out and with the time we spent in tha garage thinking about what we had to do next,  and I assure you that my Dad and I are alot sharper and have much more respect and empathy for other peoples restorations.

Thanks again to DKP and to everyone that came up and talked to my dad and I about the car at Nicks and the classic (even though I couldnt make it there).  We really do appriciate it.

                                                               Taylor walton

Congrats, Taylor! I've seen the car several times, at the last few gatherings... it's quite an awesome display of work and detail.
