Guys,
What is you're opinion about the stock 311B rods? I have a set and maybe want to use them on a 1776 or 1915cc engine (DPR crank, W120, 40dells etc.) What kind of RPM would they stand and what upgrades should be done or can I do myself? Is it worth putting money in them or should I buy a set of Uni-tech HD rods from CB Pefromance?
Thanks!
Jesse

O thanks Jordy . So they are good. But what should be done to them and is upgrading the bolts a must? I also heard something about polishing the rods. What is polished and what does it do?

... what should be done to them and is upgrading the bolts a must? Don't do anything to them, you won't gain a thing. Spend your time elsewhere on the engine.

I guess now would be the time to tell that I run them in my 2276. a lot of guys do and did. But, probably more than any other rod, they have made their way out of engine cases with out the help of tools. I didn't mean to be negative... sorry man.

No offense taken Jim, by all means. IŽd rather have someone tell me the truth about them, so I can make plans swapping them for better items the next time I open the case. They are of course weight adjusted and checked by a machine shop, but I do not have the details of what has been done to them.

... Stock con rods can handle up to 150 hp in original form .... Way more than that, IMO. Too bad Mark V (at Berg) wasn't on here, he could post some pics of his ultra-light stock rods.

Dave Mason has run the same set of stock rods for the last 18 years or so at 310hp and 9200 RPM trouble free. On a welded crank, to boot.

Sorry to get a bit off topic here, but are there any options for Porsche journal/length rods out there besides Carrillo? Something stout enough to handle maybe 140hp, 6500rpm max???
