Boy, I have seen and heard that movie before.... in person! Some want a cover shot, with only a ten minute photos session, in THEIR driveway, raining, and their car (of course) doesn't run or can't be driven.... Yeah, and can I get my (ugly) girl friend to pose in her bathing suit too? KS, classic stuff. They should make that mandatory watching before they call a car magazine.... Thanks, you made my day.
P.S. I got thrown out of a Taco Bell in Torrance just today, trying to shoot some photos in their drive-thru... So, we went to Del Taco!

True on all points. Been on both sides of shoots... amazing what people come up with. Funniest part of that video, "Will I get cover?" HAHAHA!!!

A few famous photo session quotes...
"Can we forget all this other crap and just shoot the cover?"
"If I had known it was going to take this long, I would have called the other magazine..."
"How much do you pay?"
Zero
"That's B.S. I know for a fact that you paid ______ $500 to shoot his car"
"The other VW magazine (VWT) promised me the cover and six pages" What do you offer?"
Henry's phone number....
"Do you guys put the white ink down first?"
".... When Henry was shooting this car on Tuesday...." As I ripped the film out of the camera and handed to him....
"We're done."

I shot a '67 vert up in Seattle about ten years ago. This guy "John Schmo" called me and sent in some photos. When I shot the car, he was the only one there to push it around (dead battery, etc).... Weeks later, I got his tech sheet back with his name all over it. Months go by, and I get this phone call from a chick in Seattle wanting to know when "her" '67 vert will appear in the magazine? Huh, which car is yours? Same one. So who is Joe Schmo? Oh, he owns the shop that did all the work.... Did you sell him the car, because your name is no where to be found? NO! She had no idea that he had forged his name all over our signed tech sheet, claiming the car was his! Film went into the trash and tech sheet with it.

So whats the problem ?
Since the tech sheet is basically a release to use the photos, when someone who (mis) represents themself as the owner and signs that sheet, then to turn up they lied about ownership of said vehicle, it was decided that we (HVWs) had no way to go but to not touch that car with a ten foot pole. It would be a law suit looking for a place to land otherwise. At that point, I could not trust anyone connected with that car. So we trashed the photos.

Oh yeah, I've heard a few of these quotes as well. They are especially accurate when shooting Sport Compact cars! Some of their owners have no clue...
Thanks Dean! And that YouTube stuff is priceless, Keith.

And then you have the angry emails every two to three weeks wanting to know when the car will be in the magazine. Classic stuff Keith!

LOL!! What about the gremlins? Usually, before a shoot, an idle jet will plug, along with a dead battery. Hints; bring water/patience, and stand BEHIND the photographer quietly:)
