We got it installed in my buddies Ghia (Eric). It runs awsome up and down the road, now we just gotta take it to the track and see what it does...
2110cc CB82 crank 90.5 JE pistons MoFoCo 40 X 35.5 heads with mild p/p, 3 angle vavle job W/120 cam w/ 1.25 rockers(Scat) Camden 5" blower on home made intake manifold. Scat serpetine belt system modifed (exstesivly).

The Ghia belongs to Eric Hegstenberger. A local Northeaster Ohio vetran drag racer. His winning record is long... I totally trust him with my special "project" motor for testing.
The motor will not fit into my car w/o modifying the firewall ( 5" blower), So I have "loaned" the motor to Eric for intital testing/tuning. for now the boost is set to about 7psi. I can easily change pulleys to take it up. However, we need to determine if the the carb size (390cfm) is limiting the boost or not.
So far the only testing I have done is on the test-stand. I don't have a dyno so it's a guessing game on carb tunings.
So, Low boost/fat jetting is the current tuning.
Eric says it "feels real good" That's about all I know for now.....
The idea for this motor is a Blown VW motor that can reliable make 250-270hp. Total bracket style motor that doesn't need lots of service.

I've always been intrigued by the idea of puting a supercharger on a bug. There were a couple guys in Denver who built engines with those little B&M blowers on them a couple few years ago, but they never really lived up to our expectations. I don't think they really had any idea what they were doing, though.

All ways loved the way a blower sounds on a vw - ran one in a round-d-round car in the 80's - Magnason w/3in hilborn injector - only 1600cc - but was way fun

Hi Tom, you can definitely get a reliable 250 to 270hp bracket motor using a blower. Some years ago, my 1775cc engine ran 10.65 @127 in a 1750lb car, but I ran mechanical fuel injection(methanol) and injection with 28psi. I did run a 750 double pumper carb on Methanol too, which made as much power but could not get any more fuel into the engine(.135" main jets!). Over the years I upgraded the engine in size to a best of 10.22@132 using the same blower and over drive. Engine got as big as 2918cc. Then things got "out of hand" with two autorotor blowers and even more engine mods. 2965cc and 42psi boost. ...I never got a full power run. A crash ended my fun with bests of 9.76@147 in a 1870 lb car. If you want any advice or opinions feel free to ask. These days I get just as much enjoyment playing with my normally aspirated combination.

cool job tom. do you have a closer up shot of the engine/blower. what kind of boost right now are you acheving. i like the fact of a blower because it still has to work for its power being belt driven and it defenetly has the muscle look. turbos are cool. BUT IDE RATHER BE BLOWNNNN!!. let us know how she goes. UD.

Thanks UD for posting those picks.
The photo's above show the build up (in kind of backwards order).
The key points of interest are: - modified serpentine belt setup. - Blower placement -Manifold construction (Old Bugspray manifold chopped up). - El' cheapo Empi distributor, locked out
I'll take some more photos this weekend (at the track hopfully).

The car ran 12.86 @102 on the first pass. It made power all thru the gears and he said it fealt good. Basically, everything worked as planned, but she's down on power a bit. For the next pass it was time to install the smaller (blower) pulley and step it up a notch. This pulley is smaller in diameter. It also is missing the raised guides on either side to keep the belt on track. I decided to give it a try anyways. Burnout looked good, then he launched, It seemed to run better thru the first 2-3 gears, then he said if fell on it's face. He lifted and coasted thru at (another) 12.85 (only 98mph this time). The blower belt (serpantine belt) totally had a melt down failure. Black stickey stuff all over the place. It must have walked off the pulley and shreded. I think I need to modify the (high boost) pulley to help the belt track properly. The larger (low boost) pulley has no problem. Also, It seems to confirm that the 390cfm carb is choking the motor since the power didn't jump up as much as it should have. All in all, I'd call it success. I found a few weaknesses that I'll have fixed before spring... thanks to all my friends who came out to watch. Many from very far away just to watch my creation go down the track.. I'm flattered...

Nice work. I was wondering if you got it to the track when Jacob sent me a pic on the cell phone. For an off-the wall setup, the revisions you need to make seem pretty minimal.
