I bought one of the first issues in Bay Area. Tower Records in Concord got them on the shelf when they opened one Saturday morning, so I sent my g/f to go get me a copy as I was knee deep in Bus transmissions.

Thanks for the great memories, Keith. I've had this picture on my fridge for ages - sorry if it looks washed out!
On the windshield of Bill's car was a flyer saying: "See these cars race at Terminal Island this afternoon", or something like that. What a great time we had!

Hey Stephan, the picture in the bottom middle of the last picture(the blue beetle with porsche hubcaps left from frenchy s ghia) is the one that got me into callook. That picture was in the Colin Burnhams book 'aircooled volkswagens' next to the chapter callook.
When I saw that picture I thought thats how I want my beetle to look like, that stance, that look.
Never looked back.
Do you know something about this car?

I love that picture as well! This is a copy of the original picture (slide actually), which I've had for 20 years. No idea who owned the car...

He-he, good eye! I think John Rayburn gave me that sticker about 15 years ago. It's a bit too big to put on a Bug, and actually too big for the fridge, too :-)
