it seems this 1914 is getting all the novice mistakes possible, good thing is I won't make them in the future (then I'll be making pro-mistakes I guess  Grin )

lately I was having more valve clatter than usual in the 3-4 side, it's a fairly new engine, so at first I thought it would be those steel pushrods doing their thing, but it kept going noisier and noisier, so I went to adjust valves, all were in spec but for #4 exhaust, hmmmm that's a lot of play...wait! where's the jam nut?  Huh laying in the rocker box!  Shocked it turns out that the nut was sticking in the threads so last time I adjusted valves I wasn't tightening it against the rocker but against the adjuster itself...so it loosened, and the adjuster backed until the swivel foot (911 adjusters) was hitting the rocker...it seems I caught it in time as it's still in one piece, but a bit sorry looking (in fact the foot has quite a bit of play), so I'll get a new one, porsche PN is 901.105.370.02 right?

on a sidenote, one of the rocker sideplay shims looks like someone chewed it, it was a very thin one (0,3mm), so I'll get the block machined a bit and put a thicker shim while mantaining sideplay...gotta love owning a hot vw  Roll Eyes

last saturday I finally got time to put everything back together, now it's time to mess a bit with jetting, seems that this engine could have a bit more top end!
