Rach and i are looking into spending 3-4 weeks hiring an RV and driving around a bit of the USA.

If you had 4 weeks, where would you go.

Low Oval nailed it. Highway 1 is the best! It's been good to me from Baja California to northern California. These days, I'd skip the south of the border treks, however. Have fun, whichever road you choose.

With some careful planning you could probably see both ends and some of the middle in 4 weeks.

You could easily spend 3-4 weeks just doing California and still not see everything.  Trying to extend yourself by driving to Montana to visit Yellowstone while touring California would be a stretch.  A fun tour would be up Hwy 395... you can get into the back of Yosemite at Lee Vining.  Spend some time there... but beware of Summer crowds.  When you leave, take Hwy 49 north through all the old Gold Rush country.  At Placerville, you could head east to Lake Tahoe for a visit, then back into Northern Caliif and eventually over to the coast for a trip back south on Hwy 1.  You'd have smiles on your faces the whole trip! The most beautiful stretch of Interstate I've ever seen is I-70 between Grand Junction and Denver. I love that drive Smiley

That is a fun drive as long as it isn't snowing. I've driven through the Glenwood canyon in my WRX at a high rate of speed once or twice.
