does anyone know the best way to  attach rear shocks to a 49 standard bug? coz the original canterlevers are just not up to the job!

Way back in the 1950s, Volkswagen did a bolt-on conversion for early Bugs to convert them to telescopic dampers at the rear. I'll see if I can find a photo to give you an idea...
