I'm sure a bunch of you must have already heard of/used this, but I was so impressed with it that I had to share.... especially as it may be of use to some people restoring their bugs... I had a problem with my bug in that the p.o. had carried out weld repairs around wing mounting points, but not put captive nuts in, instead holding the wings on with self tapping screws, which I was unhappy with. My brother recommended I try nutsert and it worked brilliantly - basically you drill the correct size hole at the captive nut position and then there is a type of captive nut which  pops into place in a similar way to a pop rivet. If anything, its neater than the original fitting, and if you're really being anal I also thing they weigh less than a captive nut as they have no tabes either side to be spot welded as the originals on an early bug do.

Worked a treat!

I used them on my rear wing on the race car - I didn't want to weld tabs onto the painted body when I added the wing after a couple of seasons, and the company I worked for at the time had all the kit... Wink

Weirdly Neil thats the exact reason my brother bought the setup.

hows things dude? You down at garys picnic later next month? I was going to mosy on down and watch some of the racing... you still want to pick up the cruise down for the drag day btw?

Yes, I'll be there! We've got the MSA round over the first bank holiday weekend, then going to pick up a new project car the weekend after, then drag day, followed by a weekend off and then Garys picnic! Busy month! Shocked I know I won't have a bug on the road for the drag day - mine runs now, but like a bag of hammers so I'll not risk the drive down in it unless I can sort it this weekend!

On a serious note they saved me much hassle, if it were not for this I would have had to cut out the repairs & install new sections with captive nuts in place, as the locations were much like my first girlfriend, inaccessible from the rear.

Great for installing the coil bracket on an aftermarket 30hp fan housing. Amongst many other things!

i have bought one off these as well

i borrowed one for the installation off indeed the fuelpump, linelock and external oilcooler and had to have one as it is very handy in my opinion.
