Dunno if it's been discussed before, but I am looking to swap the stock long axles on my '72 1200 bug for race axles.  Thought it would be a good time to swap for short axles at the same time, just for the look of it  Cool

Can anyone who has done this before advise if it is a straight forward swap requiring just the shorter axles and tubes, or are there hidden problems around the corner Huh

After the swap, will my car feel any different on road and strip, or will it drive the same Undecided

When you say "tubes" you should be looking for the end castings... Tube lengths are the same between long axles and short. Of course, sometimes you can switch out the tube and castings as a whole, to make the conversion.

OK, thanks for that.

Been looking but can't find that other post anywhere Huh

Anyone got any more info?  What's a good brand of race axle and which are the ones to avoid?
