We can always count you for great Pics!  I rolled over to Ron Weiss's place where he snapped a few pics of the two "63's, then we headed out to Nick's.
We ended up going over to Julio's with Mike Herbert to help lift a ghia body off the pan.
Had a great time.

Our good friend Dave brought a 1950 Flexible bus to Nick's Cruise Night, yesterday.

Mister Peabody: "Sherman, duly set the WABAC machine back to the year nineteen hundred fifty, if you'd be so kind."


Down the long corridor. Along the way, a walk-in shower on one side and a tiled (yes, as in ceramic) bathroom located directly across. Thus leading into the sleeping area where four comfy bunks are awaiting your time travel back to the fifties.


Also modern amenities, such as television, a microwave, and things of the like.


The captain's view of a vast array of assorted Volkswagens gone Cal Look, such that it is.


The rearward area where which particles of air make their escape and eventual release from the curves and convection that is a '50 Flexible.


I smiled as I walked around to the leading edge of this beautiful vintage example of driving history. Not only a pair of Hella H4 headlamps... but 7" H1 units, complete with French compliant yellow halogen bulbs. A rather superb touch, thus adding to the overall vibe of this graceful six-wheeler.


I've been around many vintage automobiles, airplanes, and boats. But what I sensed the most was a feeling not unlike that of walking around the inner-sanctum of a 1950 Douglas DC-3.


Dave, thank you very much for bringing out your '50. I've been wanting to see it in person since the first pictures you sent me, last year. It is truly a work of art and my idea of road traveling. Seeing tons of modern day motor homes on the roads of So Cal everyday... it's refreshing to look at this neat white bus. Oh, and the square weave carpet is a nice touch, too.

I thought so..    Next your going to tell me that all of the hair on your head is really a "wig" and it is also from the "Moon Landing" off the movie set...........

                                                             My hair is actually faked by Hollywood. There is a projection screen on my head, and they are continually showing a film of my hair. The film was done from the wiring harness of the Apollo 11 Lander, made to suit the color of my hair. The wiring does not actually exist, though, as it was also faked.

Dave, your bus brings back some memories from when I had lots more brain cells than today. A friend and I flipped a coin to see who was going to buy a '49 Flexible we spotted in the paper for $300. I lost and we fixed it up enough for him to head off to college in it. Straight 8 Buick with a crash-box 4 speed and 18 miles of the world's sloppiest shift linkage. The exhaust manifold had a crack in it, and at night there was this flashing of blue lights through the rear louvers when you would let up on the throttle to shift. What a beast. He lived in it for two years down by Iowa State U. with no running water, except a garden hose from the neighbor, a single 110v extension cord, and zero heat. I still wonder who got the best of that deal for the bus. It was painted turd brown, and nobody questioned the color choice. Your's looks amazing! Great job!

I've had my share of turd buses over the years! I landed on this one in the early 90's and never regretted a minute of it... More smiles to the mile
