DRKC contender 1961 Ragtop Cal-look Bug   Price: $13,500
I am selling my 1961 ragtop Bug that I have owned since High School. This car is my baby and I have had alot of fun in her over the years racing and driving it. I built and drove this car while living in Southern California and really enjoyed it. It is fast and beautiful.I competed in the DRKC back in 2005 and it was the 20th fastest car on the Cal-look.com TOP 20 Fastest Cal-look cars in 2004 ( dash plaque included).DVKK 100 mile an hour club member, decal on windsheild. It is a really nice street car and ran consistantly in the 12.70s ET @ 105 mph in the quarter mile at Carlsbad raceway ( RIP). The only reason I am selling the car is I have recently moved to the Denver Colorado area and have not driven the car much, so I might as well sell it .Here are the details:

Body and Interior-Original '61 factory sunroof car,new floor pans, very solid Western body, completely sand blasted ,Sikens Blood Red single stage paint that has been cut and buffed, all new stainless trim, window seals, '61 Convertible decklid ( hinges replaced), The interior is all black and all new, headliner, door panels, sunroof canvas, FLAT4 wood knob door handles and window cranks, Mystery EMPI 2-spoke steering wheel, Vintage Tach, Vintage HURST T-handle shifter, ARS 4 point seat belts, 4 point loop bolt in roll bar, The only flaw in the paint is a hair line crack in the bondo on the rear apron where the wind slammed the decklid shut one time.

Suspension- Adjusters in front beam, all rebuilt, new brakes, 90/10 front shocks, Limiting straps on the rear shocks. Very stabil car.

Engine-2332cc VW Paradise built stroker, built by Jason Laufer, 84mm Demello crank with Wedge mated fly wheel, 94mm pistons, CB performance Wedgeport heads, FK 89 cam, Autocraft 1.4 rockers, Straight Cut timming gears, Merged and HPC coated header, Orignal Italian IDA Webers with Velocity stacks, tall SCAT TRAK polished intakes, all poweder coated black engine tin, 10:1 compression and runs great on pump gas, makes about 200HP at the Flywheel.Freshly built with only about 300 miles and NO TRACK TIME.

Tranny-Rancho unit built by Mike Herbert, 4:37 Pinion, McKenzie Super Diff, Race Axles, Super Beetle Main Shaft. Chrome traction bar,Freshly rebuilt with about 300 miles and NO TRACK TIME.

Wheel and Tires- Original 2 piece EMPI 5 spokes with NOS EMPI center caps and that have been completely restored and outer lip polished. NO CRACKS .It come 5 total rims, 4 of which are restored and a spare which has a small crack in it but is usable. THe front tires are new 145 R15 and the Rears are Hoosier Quick Time Pros DOT legal slicks.

The only issue with the car is it has been sitting alot and the rear main started to leak some from lack of driving, otherwise it is a beatiful and fast street car.

I welcome overseas buyers and can help arrange shipping to the UK or Europe. I can also store the car inside my garage for several months until shipping can be arranged. Please call me at 619-213-2944 cell ,if you are a serious buyer, NO TRADES and NO TIRE KICKERS please! ERCO wheels and tires seen in pictures not included.
