No point messing around with just sneaking into the 8's with a 90 then, roll straight in with an 8.60!
Such a serious time. Fantastic effort!

Thats really impressive,to step up from the 9.0s at SCC and leap into the 8s with that 8.60 is a great achievement, well done to all involved
It finally stops the doubts as to wether a spring plate pan car could go 8s,so many have tried and fallen at the last hurdle, and to do it with regular IRS suspension is even better,it makes some combos look pointless, front engine cars particularly

Well put; I can only agree that it is nothing short of totally amazing! And indeed a (heavy) street car on top of it all...

Was Petter Brandstorp driving the car ? When I first saw this car live doing their 9,6 run on SCC 2008, 300 meters "burnout", going from side to side, I realized that this driver must be crazy.

9,6 run from 2008, priceless moment <a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/CJ_upA5xLdM" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/CJ_upA5xLdM</a>

Yes i believe he was driving. They did some changes to the chassi set up and I guess some more boost. Though I doubt there are any film on. I brought a camera be we forgot it on the bus so neither of my runs or Skinnes were filmed by anyone we knew. There might be some great pictures though.

So please tell us, what did Skinne change on his car to manage the new ET on a non prepped concrete track with a 1.30 60ft and 161 mph?

It seems that sometimes the track can be to sticky, and the car is smoother on a track were the wheels spin rather than hook violently and make the car unstable, after looking at the pictures I wonder if this was the case here?

Earlier he had some problems that the car would hook-up and hit the wheeliebar too hard, and then unload the rears. He made a spring dampener on the wheeliebar so it hits smoother. Also some adjustment so it went straight.
The start was better, with wheelspin but still good forward movement.
Some adjustment on the intercooler setup also has improved HP...

Kjula raceway is an airstrip and a lot of vw-s have made their records on this airfield with good grip at the start but more like a normal road the rest of the way. I think that Alastaro i finland is sort of the same. Gardemoen is in my opinion a bit to much glue for vw-s. Probably works great for top-fuel but for vw-s its more of a gearboxbreaker. I hope we can keep racing at kjula because its a great track and the organizers are really cool people with their hearts in vintage racing. I was there as a mechanic for two cars that I had built the motors for. Both made new personal best at the end of the day. I hope for next year the finns will find ther way here and Skinne did so we are looking forward for more norwegians. Its the end of the season so I would like to say thanks to all the friendly vw-folks that I have met this year and hope to see you again next year at Kjula Raceway.
