some of the new slang is irritating. I think we've already had a post about that though.
how about "IRS"? A swingaxle car is still, technically, an "independent rear suspension"

99.9% of the new slang is beyond annoying. People just tryin' too hard and too lazy to pronounce words properly. But it's not just limited to the VW scene... every day, lately, I seem to be asking myself: "Where are we going, and why are we in this hand basket?"
To answer your question, ask Dee Berg. If she or her sons don't know, we're in trouble.

Does the IRS drive cars with IRS? Or, do they swing?

good references to check into... I was thinking more of industry terms... not thinking of the slang thread... every one of the major suppliers use the " dog house " and was interested in this... as such an simple name like this shows there is power in words or terms...
as when anyone in VW circles mentions doghouse 99% of the time people know instantly what they are referencing towards

Don't know about the term "Dog house" but Bruce T and Kroc refer to my Berg linkage as the "Bed Frame" Who started that one? Mirko *edit, Do you have to bend a bed frame to adjust it??

The term dog house has been around for a long time, it was used during the war to describe the radiator installation on P51 Mustangs, so nothing new,

Yes, but who made the connection between VW coolers <------> dog house? Sure sounds like a Berg deal to me. And by the way, ever notice the shape of the air intake on a WWII Mustang P51 plane, and today's Pro Stock hood scoops?

Not so. Since that type of cooler came out in what, 1971ish? Basic Cal Look concept goes back even earlier than that.

Danny, you opened a restaurant in Garden Grove? I believe that he did, John. Turns out... that the House Cat is this week's special.
Back on topic; I'm still going with the Gene Berg theory on this doghouse thing. Doug, what say you?

Right on cue, John. I was betting that you'd post that before sunrise. You went the distance.
Now... when ARE you gonna take delivery of this disc?

Since it's the little house behind the fan/house, it could have been called "The Out House".

Since were on the subject, who named that little piece below the dog house the "Hoover bit" ? A guy by the name of Bob Hoover did extensive research on that piece and proper air-cooled engine cooling. I'm sure it was his followers that tagged that piece with his name. VW's name for that is "sealing frame",,,,,don't have the part# handy at the moment. Here it is 113-117-323
