Cal-look Treasure Hunt

How about a treasure hunt. Your goal is to build a cal-look car from ads on the samba, ebay, VW shops or here. The car can be from any era, including pre-cal. Include links, and pics if possible, of the car, major mechanical components, interior, etc and a plan for your car. Use Bugselecta,
http://shop.volkswarenhaus.de/media/content/bugselecta.htm
, or photoshop, to show the final product. If it requires custom work you can use an example from any site to demonstrate. (i.e. for interiors, paint, etc.) Once an ad has been posted, it can not be used again. We can do a poll for everyone's favorite submission and the top two entries will get a Lounge T-shirt of their choice from me. I thought this would be a fun way to help support the Lounge. The deadline is Friday 23:59 GMT.
Edit: Time fixed
Thanks,

Only if you still have the ads for them.
Otherwise some of us could just post a photo of our garages and be done.

I don't know about you guys but that Tee is sure enticing. So I just bought me a set of nearly NOS IDA for a nice price off of someone dear to any one of us, only 700 quid because I'm such a nice guy and have such a fun project going on. I didn't tell him about me not having the car yet
http://cal-look.no/lounge/index.php/topic,10280.0.html
So next thing on the list would be the car. I know I promised Monkiboy a Guards red '66, but Sweden has more to offer than that. I found a car with a fair bit of work, but nothing I can't handle and hey what do you expect from a '49 that has been sitting up north?
http://www.blocket.se/vastmanland/49_bubbla_objekt_23799920.htm?ca=1_8&w=3
I need something to roll this thing around in the garage, so wheels are next. I'm not sure they will fit such an old car, but they were just smiling at me, I couldn't resist. Imagine them detailed black with polished edges. And hey if they serve as much as to get the car in paint I'm happy, I can still bolt other wheels to it.
http://www.kinkymicks.com/product_info.php?products_id=45
Finally, as I'm running out of money today, to get that old school look that matches the IDA's, a joe hunt magneto with electronics inside for ease of use. If it is already sold I'll just use the 010 I have lying around, not fair but this car needs to be finished by Friday.

As to be expected, the chassis was beyond repair, even the shell will be a challenge
So what else to do than go wild, I wanted a rollcage anyway.
http://www.ronlummusracing.com/Race_store.htm
under chassis & rollcage
And while we are moving away from cal look anyway and into racecar realm, I always wanted one like these and now got a good price on it. The Lounge really is a good place to be.

To keep things looking standard this is my choice of steering wheel
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=825942
And to keep me planted in the seats I'm still looking for I need seatbelts, so some simpson seatbelts are on the way from Steve and Adele. You look up that link yourself now, you all know who owns the nicest 59 on wheels.

OK, I've got a few minutes to think about this, so here goes:
In my unit I've got my '51 and a Karmann cab which are both unfinished, so what could be better for a new project than a '51 Karmann!
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=811077
Obviously the sides would be painted to match the rest of the body - I'm not into 2 tone, but I do like that brown. Dechrome it while it's in for paint, it is a Cal looker after all.
Although I like Fuchs, I think this would look good on Gasburners, and Sven's got a set...
http://cal-look.no/lounge/index.php/topic,10278.0.html
Second thoughts, AlGhia has a set of 5.5's and deep 6's for sale here too. You can never have too much choice...
http://cal-look.no/lounge/index.php/topic,10089.0.html
Now for a bit of "go" - WhiteTrash's 2110 - Frank's motor is a good'un!
http://cal-look.no/lounge/index.php/topic,9685.0.html
Bolt on Johnny Grigg's IDAs (because Dr Jekyll already got Monkiboys!) and we're just about good to go...
http://cal-look.no/lounge/index.php/topic,10213.0.html
That do?

Well since I'm straying anyway, what about you taking Monki's carbs of my hand for the price you were going to pay for the Spanish ones and a bit of racing advice.
I just managed to talk someone into parting out his car and just selling me his engine with Turbo. I'll have to do some rearranging of the exhaust to do to be able to fit my so called magneto, but it will work.

As the roof of the shell is far gone, I was thinking about a very mild top chop (luckily Ron Lummus still needs to fire up his welder) and opening up the roof. The gap will be filled with orange/red lexan as well as the windows.
http://www.agulon.nl/lexan.html
Buying the lexan first corners me a lot when it come to choosing a color, I was thinking about black with a small bit of bronze flake to it with some white and bright green accents. I even got a name for it then: the Mighty Aku (bad guy of Samurai Jack)

To be fair, I didn't really stick to the assignment. So Louis, however much I would love the T-shirt, how about you keep it aside for the next one to build the nicest looker made of "bought" on the internet parts by Sunday morning the 10th. I'll up the ante with 10 buttons of choice. For this challenge however I want to set an extra rule, it needs to be a Ghia based Looker.
So all of you, get ready, set, GO! Scavenge every single advertisement and come up with the best Ghia Cal Looker by Sunday morning (CET that is).
Ciao,
Tim

I'll throw my shirt back in too, there were only two of us "built" cars so we can't both win, and Dr J was so much more detailed! I get to choose the next theme after the Ghia one though!

I thought this was a fun game for young and old, 8 to 88 (so even Sarge could play)
But it seems the bait was not tasty enough. So Louis, I'll take that T-shirt of your hands then, no one else seems to want it
And as I was going to spend the buttons anyway, Louis send me some designs you want on a badge and I'll post ten to you. Neil, you can have 5 for playing along. Cheers, Tim
Oh and all the rest, spoilsports

Ok, just for fun, here's the Ghia I'd do!
First, the base car, a tidy looking '67, restored by BFY.
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=857450
Not a fan of the wheels, so a set of 2-litres would be nice, and although I usually prefer detailed, I think fully polished would look nice on a Ghia!
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=779399
And as for a motor, Jussi has something decent on here... a 2386cc monster!
http://cal-look.no/lounge/index.php/topic,10319.0.html
What do you think?
Now, build me a gasser!
