My wife and I will be at this event on Sunday the 18th. We are visiting friends (car people) who live in Kerrville, Texas and this show was one of the reasons we chose to be there around these dates.
I'll be wearing my burgundy DER KLEINER PANZER ball cap, so I should be easy to spot in the crowd. If you see me please come up and introduce yourself as I'd like to meet you.

Today is Friday the 23rd. This is our last complete day in Texas and we've had a great time. Enjoyed the VW event last Saturday and purchased a very nice and I think unusual VW picture that is currently in UPS transit to California. I'll share it along with many other stories regarding this vacation once I return. Texas and the Hill Country around Kerrville is a great place to spend some relaxing time and I could live here in the future.

Back to the "work grind" today. I'll pull some photos together soon. One thing I did find at the show in Boerne, Texas was a really neat poster titled "Volkswagen in America" by John Gable. It is framed in a nice "Southwest" frame which is what drew me to it. Size is 44.5" x 29" framed.
Arriving at work today it was here ready to be unpacked which is now done. I'm debating weather to display it in my office or take it home. Problem at home is I'm about out of room.
More details on the trip. We arrived in San Antonio about 1pm on the 16th. After a quick lunch our friend Wayne Graefen drove us about 100 miles for a surprise "ranch dinner and concert". The food was cooked by none other than Roger Mears, brother of Rick Mears, Indy winner. It was a small group of about 20, but the concert was great with local talent.
The next day Wayne had arranged lunch with Fred Egloff who is a local in Kerrville, Texas where Wayne owns 37 acres. He told me Fred was a BMW guy, but I had no idea he was the long time owner of the 1938 Belgium Grand Prix BMW 328. He is quite the car guy and knows everyone you've ever read about in that world. Fred is also an author of American Western History and was kind enough to give me one of his books autographed no less.
We were always on the go, but on Thursday Wayne pulled his vary rare 1960 Chrysler 300F Pont-a-Mousson 4 speed. There were only nine of these cars built for the speed trials on the beach at Daytona. Today there are only four documented to still exist. Wayne's is probably the best of the four. I stored the car for him when he moved to Texas from Fullerton, CA about 10 years ago and have put a few miles on it myself. These cars ran at close to 150 mph on sand back in the day. This record still exist today as beach racing ceased after 1961.
Anyway with four of us in the car we entered I-10 and came to a stop. He droped the clutch and smoked the tires through first gear. After winding it up tight in second we hit third and shifted out at 115
. We didn't get to far in fouth as we ran out of road. It is a scarey fast car and especially if you consider the time when it was the KING.
Both Christie and myself needed some down time away from work and it was a great vacation, but I'm glad to be back home to play with my own cars.
More to follow.

As promised a few photos from the VW event in Boerne, Texas on Oct. 18th.
First and second shot, myself and my long time friend Wayne Graefen (I loaned him the shirt). To those who know us we are simply "John Wayne".
Third shot is Sandy, Wayne's girl friend. She really liked the "Hippy Bus"
Fourth is a very nice Ghia

Here are a couple more.
This Notch was probably my favorite at the show. It was from California and was original. The owner knew who DKP was and also mentioned Rich Kimball.
Here is a chop top, Texas Style
