Just had a thought aftter a friend picked up some 356 guages cheap - as a few of you might know 356 Tachos are driven by a special oilpump, My question is has anyone ever fitted one of the porsche 356 oilpumps in a Type1 VW case  Huh Huh Huh

Also anyone happen to know where you can get the drive cables Huh Huh Huh

(and I don't want anyone telling me to fit a 356 motor  Wink)

I think the bolt pattern is the same, but not sure about the drive gear. Here is a link to new cables.

I guess the other alternative is to find a cheap electronic tach where the needle starts and stops in a similar position to the porsche one, and either swap the internals into the porsche one, or swap the porsche face into the cheap one? Someone must have done this in the history of hot rod building at some point?! here is someone else asking the same question, and kind of an answer.
