Lose the WW's, and call it Boston Blackie. Like the 50's TV show of the same name.

Whew !!!!!!!!!!! Aonther week and none of my cars have been posted on here. Cheesy   The thing about VW's for me is fun , some of the people put alot of time and effort into them, I may not want to own all of them but they evidently had fun building and playing with them. Mike McCarthy

I remember seeing that car at the Long Beach Convention Center, every year, for the R.G. Canning shows that were held there. HUGE events. Lots of fun with D.K.K. and later, a few our our club cars were in the mix. Such a great venue for a car show.

This car was owned by Ed Papac out of Enterprise, Oregon. He raffled it off for a Baylands event and it was "stolen" before the event. He got busted for insurance fraud for this if I remember correct as it was stolen 2 miles from my house in Newark, California. It had a 911 6 cylinder mid mounted with 46 IDA triple barrels.

R.G. Canning at Anaheim Convention Center also, a few of us from D.K.K. back then put our cars in there for the week / weekend (my Black 67 Ghia, Bills "PEPTO"), and a couple of others that I can't remember, maybe Gabbards Notch?  Dumb ass me never took pictures of that stuff...

It was always fun doing those Canning shows. All the judging was point based. I remember that you would get extra points for having things such as cans for for gas, oil and coolant. inc there was no "coolant" per se, VWs would have cans elaborately painted up with "Air" lettered on them.  Wink

Wilkerson, Scott Hall and I did a DEEK display at the Long Beach Event. It may have been a different group of DEEKs that displayed at the Anaheim show  Huh

Aw, crud... I knew there was another car in that mix. THANKS, Lisa! Scott Hall's blue car... yep. Those were some HUGE car shows to walk around. Especially if you wanted to see each and every display. Back during the days of not having to worry as much about your car being fondled by non-car show people. Unlike today.

Maybe you should post a sign that says "look with your eyes, not with your hands" around your display.

Yup, it was stolen in the '80s and I don't recall when it was recovered... but it was somewhere in the mid '90s that he was busted for insurance fraud and went to jail.  That car looked like it was built by a total cocaine mule.  lol.

His name was Ed Papac and hailed from Enterprise, Oregon, way up in the northeast corner of the state.
