This is difficult for me to write, but you all need to know.  On Saturday afternoon we received a phone call from a very distraught Tammy Rosevear advising us that Lynn was in the hospital.  I know his views on Doctors and Hospitals, so immediately I knew this was serious.

Tammy relayed the following to us.  A couple of weeks ago Lynn broke a tooth and did nothing about it.  There was an infection that developed in his mouth due to this and it carried to his heart.  This past Thursday he collapsed and was taken to the hospital.  As I write this he is in open heart surgery with only a 30% chance to pull through.

There are more details, but I don’t feel the need to go there at this time.  I’m waiting to hear back from Tammy and once that occurs I’ll relay it to all.

If any of you have read my post since coming on-board you know of my long relationship with Lynn.  This is a guy that gave me and several others an opportunity at a career many years ago.  For me it has been 39.  In my book he ranks with those names that have become legends in the VW world for what he brought to the mark.

Beyond being my employer for over 10 years he has remained my friend.  Every year around Christmas time there is always a call from the “Old Weasel”.  In the past couple of years we’ve talked via the phone on a regular basis and I always complete those conversations with a smile on my face and a good feeling that I have such a friend.

This year there was all of the above, but then something arrived via the mail that was very special to us.  A few months back I had forwarded some photos of our cars to Lynn & Tammy as per her request.  What came back to us is a most exquisite wall calendar of those cars done with Tammy’s great artistic flare.  This is a one off that they actually had done in Europe and will be a keeper in our special things.

I could go on and on telling stories of our relationship over these many years, but I feel what is said here covers how Christie and I feel about this man.  So, we would ask that you keep both Lynn and Tammy in your prayers.  Should you choose, Tammy is on the forum and I know they would appreciate your wishes.

A recent photo of Lynn & Tammy is attached.  Thanks for listening and God Bless you Lynn & Tammy.

I was one of those guys that Lynn took a chance on and worked at Auto Haus as well.

John, I think you had the final say when Pat (Mongo) McMahon recommended me for the job. I remember that your big test of my knowledge was putting an Elephant's foot adjuster in front of me and asking what it was. When I answered that it was a Ford Courier Valve Adjuster that the VW guys liked to use, you said I was in. I then went to Buena park and met Lynn and Ron who sealed the deal for me to hire on. I was the one that recommended and pushed for the hiring of Dug Bug and Jeff Kymla. It was a fun time working with that crew, Eddie "Antlers" Craig, John L, Mongo McMahon, Stan the Pervert, Doug Mische, Mike Ahlstrom, Marky Melbrith, Crystal (Mmmm), and of course we can never forget Gavin!

Lynn had enough faith in me that when he bought the Mission Viejo store back from the franchise,  I was chosen to manage it. He also had me take over the San Bernadino store management when it was in turmoil until a new manager could be hired and trained by me. I even spent some time working in the Buena Park Store.

Lynn and I may not have always seen eye to eye on things but he certainly was fair and was instrumental in my 35 years in the automotive industry.

Best Wishes and Prayers towards Lynn.

Wow...really bad news.  I'm up at Mammoth Mountain skiing with Mark Milbrath this week and just thought I'd check the message boards to see what is happening.  Mark and me were just saying that our days at Auto-Haus was probably the best job I've ever had.   Wishing Lynn the best.  Great guy to work for.

UPDATE:  6:45 pm last night I received a call from Tammy Rosevear.  Her words were "John, he made it" !!  Lynn was in surgery for 6 hours on Monday and yesterday (Tuesday) he was alert and in a good mood, but in much pain.  Tammy said he is not out of the woods yet, but hopefully the crises has passed.  He will remain in I.C.U. for probably a week before being moved to another location in the hospital.  The staff involved with his procedure were amazed he was still with us as I was told.

Earlier in the day I had sent Tammy an e-mail asking for updates.  I thought this better than phoning her as I knew however things went her plate was full.  She hadn't seen all of your post on this site, but was going to print them out and take them to Lynn today.  She was most appreciative of all of your best wishes and concerns and I would suspect when time is available to her she will post in her.

My personal thanks to all of you who replied to the Rosevears.  Now lets hope for smooth waters and blue skies ahead.

John

Out of bad always comes some good.  I just had a phone call from the other Rosevear!!   Grin Grin  Ron got my number from Tammy in a phone conversation she had with him today.  The last time I saw Ron was at Lynn's 60th birthday party when they all still lived in SoCal.

Ron now living in Utah sounds great.  Actually like he is still about 30 years old, but in reality he is now 75.  Shocked Shocked  We had a good talk and Christie and I got an invite to come visit with them.

Tammy reported to Ron that Lynn 48 hours after the ordeal was doing well and in good spirits.   This brings great peace to me.

I asked Ron if he was still involved in the VW world and for the most part he said "no".  Once in a while he will be contacted by someone asking for assistance primarily in the off road end of it.  Anyway it was great to hear from him and I hope we also stay in contact.

Great to hear news like this!  We've lost too many of the VW pioneers too young.  They all should live to be 100 in my opinion. Cheesy
