One of the pinnacles of automotive engineering, ever. Looking down upon the longblock, it looks so deceptively simple. Design wise and tech wise, it really is so simple it's the work of genius, but it's in the details where this motor was so special, and not that simple at all. Just the oiling system alone.
Wine Country Motorsports in Sonoma, CA, about 15 years ago, had bronzed 917 intake cams mounted on little stands for sale as
art
. Think they were $1500 per cam. If I had the bread at the time....

those cars on their website are unreal, the 904/6 is awesome, if I ever get a 56 million lottery win I will be heading over to see this guy! Looks like the engine takes 12 stock vw solexs to get the gas into it?

i found these picture in the June 1984 issue of the Porsche-Panorama-Magazine. This is no kit-car or replica. This is a real 906 Carrera. Brown paintjob, complete with Fuchs-wheels, 911 gauges, topped dash, etc. A real Hot Rod, or even something like Cal Look, I think. Does anybody know if this car is still around?
