Well, after a lifetime of dreaming, a winter of selling a ton of my memorabilia, it's finally happening: I'm shipping my ’65 Looker out to SoCal to take part in Bug-In 35 and then VW Classic and all its associated events.

As you might have guessed from another thread, 'Bluey' will be sharing a container with a pair of famous gassers AND one other car...

It's a long story about handling new-style paperwork, which we'll tell you all about soon. All I can say now is, it is a dream come true – it's costing me a fortune but what price can you put on dreams?

In the words of James Dean: "Dream like you'll live for ever, live like you'll die tomorrow". Smiley

Pulling up to Nicks (fashionably late of course) makes all the driving/shipping/expenses worth every penny. Free test drives at Sarges?....

Well, things never get any easier! After all the hassles with the new US Customs procedures, I then had the slight problem of getting my car and trailer out from the farm where I keep it. The recent wet weather, followed by freezing rain and hail, meant that the track had turned to mush. My T3/T25/Vanagon got stuck and took me half an hour to free, so I called on a friend for the use of his Land Rover Discovery. That got stuck too, so we ended up winching the trailer out of the mud... Poor car – next stop sunny California where I am sure it will say "No way am I going back to the UK!!!'. Who can blame it?  Sad Smiley Smiley Smiley

Very cool.  It was such a rush when I took my car to the Classic in 03.  Some of the biggest highlights were just cruising around Orange Cnty and seeing road signs and locations that I had read about in HVW's when I was just a kid.

Have a blast...wish I could be there to see it.
