I just fitted  a 4 inch narrowed beam to my 66, german beam and airkewld's dropped spindles I found the car doesn't sit low enough. Will post pics later travelling now.

I dint wana fit adjusters as thy would defeat the purpose of having spindles. What do u all think? Spings got stiffer since they have been cut?

First, the more you narrow your beam, the harder the ride will get. As far as adjusters, when you have drop spindles, sometimes the height is not what you want like what you have. The adjusters will fine tune so to speak, on how you want your ride and the height to be. I have a 2" CB narrow beam and the ride is not to bad, but if I have it narrowed more, it will get stiffer. I also have CB drop spindles. When everything went together the height was still not what I wanted. A little adjustment of the adjusters, and bingo! got it where I wanted it.

Plus on bj beam, the ball joints tend to bind the lower you go down in height. So Drop spindles help with that. (Link pin will go all the way to earth)
I run CB dropped spindles and adjusters on my 66, rides nice. Like racecraf said you're gonna want to fine tune your ride height.

thanks! looks like i will need some adjusters welded in.

anyway some pics

this is before fitting the narrowed beam.,

stock beam, Airkewld dropped spindles, 5.5 fake BRMs, 195 55 R15 tyres

BEFORE FITTING BEAM - standard beam, with 195 55 R15 Michelin PP2, my other car's old tyres

had to do some minor knocking for the 4 inch beam...i hated this....should have gone for 3 inches instead.

trailing arms seals replaced.

the Urethane Bugpack units i got, i couldnt figure out how to fit them....$%^&....so dint wana waste much time, luckily i had some OEM seals i bought god knows when......fitted those instead, fit like gloves....




i dunno how to fit these...will try again next time




old seal,,...probably as old as the car??



new seals fitted, arms refitted and tightened

after installing this was what I got, still the 195 tyres... Huh Undecided Angry







drove 41 kms home , took my other tyres, 165 80 R15 and headed to the workshop again, and tyre shop

Narrowing the beam 4" probably takes away most of effect of the lowered spindles.. You have 4" less of torsion leaves to twist, that's pretty much and will not only make the front stiffer but also much higher.
