D.B.O. Not a club; a state of mind.

« on: March 15, 2010, 07:57:24 am »

Southern California was blessed with outstanding weather, this morning. A nice change from the onslaught of rain storms, lately. Irwindale Raceway filled up quickly. I didn't get any action race shots because I was too busy talking to people. Many of which I haven't seen in a long while and others that I recently met. For those that couldn't make the event, a few pictures.

Pip makes sure that Jesse's tires have the correct inflation.

Jesse, in the return lane after making a pass.

John\'S Motor sieht gepflegtes und organisiert.

Fabien's car alongside Panzers.

Cool Bus with old dealer name that many So Cal residents will no doubt remember.

Toyo Fastback.

Close up and personal look at an early fifties Type 1.

Worm's car got a new interior. Pretty cool, methinks.

Supercharger, anyone?

Tastefully done Karmann Ghia for sale.

We had two DEEKS in the swap meet area, which was a great location for our food.

Eight of the Kampfwagens made it out for the event.

Split window reflection time.

More early high performance stuff.

Nice decklid & badge combo on Ben's Panzer.

Speaking of nice...check this out.

This nicely done Bus was the bbq center for the D.B.K. camp. Super deep Sprintstars out back, too.

And two of examples of these rarely seen vehicles made appearances.

Oh yeah... turns out, today was some sort of International Pi Day. Personally, due to my lack of math skills/knowledge, I've honestly never heard of such a day. So Mr. & Mrs. Meredith thought it best to supply us DEEKS with what else? Pies! Thanks to everyone that provided the tasty food, by the way.

Just in case I ever have the need for a 1967 Type 1 in front of a King Taco location, this image will be here for reference.

Please feel free to post up any of your Drag Day pics, here. Had fun hanging out with you all. See ya at the next VW event.

Wow, thanks for all of the kind words, everyone. I was a little bummed that I couldn't provide any action shots, this time 'round. Hopefully, some people can post a few more up.

I couldn't agree more, Tero. I really dig what John's done to his engine, lately. Looks great.

Dave...6V? Oh, the Bosch sticker. I agree, Lisa will make a much better Prez than me. I'll be happier going back to the club janitor.

Fabian, yes... Worm needs a bare foot pedal for the other two. Perfect for summer cruises before or after surfing.
