what colour combo's for a 66 beetle?

hi, got enough to repaint my 66, so that will be done in the next few months.

it was repainted externally in the early 80's

but the original shade should be ruby red.
and the interior is cream, but fancy a change to a porsche colour.

any ideas how porsche sepia brown would look?
with full trim? as don't have the balls to weld up the trim holes...
or has it been done to death? 

or what about vw nutria brown (type 3 colour)
would work well with the cream interior, as i was thinking about finding a black 66 interior, as the white is so hard to keep clean!

I'm seem to be changing my mind every time I see another nice color. But if I stick to it, my 66 will end up in the brightest white available, with Wunderwaffe green rear lights.

As for you, go for a color that matches a black interior, I have the perfect back and passenger seat for you

those are my favourite colours though!  a nice 70's porsche shade!
couldn't go for a 50's or an 80's colour!

The Sea Blue Combo is really Great.

The material (Salt & Pepper) type is not produced any longer sadly. 

I worked for VW from 1977 and tried to research the original supplier through  the factory with no success.

spirit of the 50's apparently have a very similar material to platinum salt and pepper.

shame they wore worse than any other interior! as looked one of the nicest.

yep, excellent choice. try to look at BMW alpin white. that is very white

L87 Pearl White with 59 Mosaic Teak interior. That's how my orange '66 came from the factory, which is why I had Suzy at Vee Dub Seatcovers stitch the interior in a very similar brown naugahyde color.

why would you want other people to tell you which colour to paint your car? isn't the most fun part of building a car deciding on the purfect colour combo yourself? if it were me, i'd go through tons of different hues by searching pics of the colours of your choice...
don't get fooled by what has been done before, there's enough sepia brown lookers by now
try willow green or guards red, those 2 are deemed cool just kidding

how about printing out a sheet of the colours that you find on thesamba, and do the same for the porsche hues. rule out the no-no's and search tons of exemplary pics of VWs and Porsches that go with their respective colours on your sheet. you'll end up with a massive database, but by ruling out more and more colours, and flipping a few coins, you're bound to end up with something cool

so what you had maybe the 'holy grail' in my book of factory original callooks.

i either want that interiour in a white or seasand car. the same combo as my original type3 was (seasand teak). and it's a 66, somhow that year apeals to me more then a 67. but it's because type3's were so different in 66.

I LOVE Sea Sand... such a great color. You're right, that interior would look very nice in either that or the white color.

Mid-to-late 1970's Porsche Ice Blue is my first choice for VW sedan, with RSR "frosted" finish alloys, 7" deeps in the rear. Close second place is Alfa Romeo Giallo Ocra (ochre yellow) with facotry finish early alloys or polished BRMs.
