I've always had good luck with Grant cast rings in the past, but I've never had a particularly big engine that likes to rev.  For a 2.0 liter looking to see most of its time between 2K and 6K RPM, what is the recommended choice on rings?  Total Seal, Grant, Mahle?  My experience with Mahle is I've had trouble getting them to properly to seal right away and they're prone to washing out if the engine's running rich off the bat.  I was leaning toward Grant rings for that reason, but wasn't sure if I needed anything different for my application (2017, 45 Dells, Engle 125, 8.5 or 9:1 comp, 42x37.5 Tims heads).

Also, what's the recommendation on piston pin retainers?  Teflon buttons, Arc-tru keepers (snap ring style in Bugpack catalog), spiral lock?  Just curious as to what other folks are using. :-)  Thanks in advance!

can be quite disappointing, right? Wink

i'm a first time builder, but i can say i liked the GB tru-arc keepers. the spiral locks are tricky to get out whereas the tru-arc keepers are really nice to work with if you have the right size circlip pliers.
as for rings, i'll be using Grant but like i said, no experience with other products yet. hope this helps a tad.

I figured I'd go with Grant Rings, though I've heard a lot of good things about Deves rings...  I figured my choice is between Tru-Arc and Teflon buttons...
