the NORTHERN RUN.... Drag Day @ York Raceway, 7th & 8th August 2010

Shaping up to be an excellent weekend, with a wide variety of awesome cars attending, including the WILDBUNCH nostalgia V8 racers, a good showing of our friends from Scotland heading down in force and the laid back friendly atmosphere of the York raceway track. The Air Cooled Eliminators will be hosting the event, and if any of you have ever met the guys & gals from the North you'll know how welcoming & friendly they are.

Again, Pro Wagen have kindly put up a £150 shopping voucher for the quickest car of the day, and a Gene Berg sweatshirt fail award (but who wants to win that, right?!).

Racing is restricted to aircooled VW's, the quicker the better!

York opens at 6pm the night before the meeting starts... for camping and a few beers so that would be friday the 6th, or saturday 7th from 8am

A weekend pass with a full TWO days of racings racing in 3 classes - A.C.E. Sportsman, and RWYB is £85
Weekend camping but with racing on one day only is £65

This includes entry fee to the track, PDRC membership and an IOPD race license.

Please note cars are scrutineered, but it would have to be pretty bad to fail (ask me how I know hahahah)

A few pictures from last year:

Forgot to add, prices for spectators wishing to come along are £10 for a day pass and £15 for a weekend pass.

There's a big BBQ and an excellent band playing as well.

Cheers

Jamie, Glyn raced in vwpro for a few years, he won the championship 2 years in a row (2006 & 2007 I think).

His car was satin black for a while then it re-appeared in lovely gloss black, he raced in ACE as well.

Good racer.

Australian-spec '67 IIRC, small window shell from factory. Ran it on 4-bolt Ercos.

Edit: Jamie tree'd me! Cheesy

Dale Snoke I think, got a feature of it when it was still in the states. It's a Mopar with a Chevy motor, which would really upset people! Cheesy

Ah I see. There were a few of the cars there built by Billedeau's shop and I wondered if that was one of them. Really nice guy incidentally, but I did enjoy soundly thrashing him and his big V8 on the strip.... in common with nearly all the V8 guys at the York, he came and said hello afterwards and we had a chat about cars & racing - a lovely old chap, still racing and building cars.... in comparison to my dad, the only cubic inches in which he's interested is the size of the boot in his Citroen Berlingo  Grin Cheesy
