Hi mate..

today theres two VW event. one is in Tanggerang next city to Jakarta and other one is  in Jogjakarta Jawa tengah.  one week later we also have a national jamboree in Bangka Island Sumatera.  bandung also will have an event soon I will comform later on when I got the info's.

There are many shop selling VW parts in Jakarta. But the easiest is go to Atrium Plaza 5th floor. you could find Hendra ( istana teratai). Afon (karunia jaya), Akiun, Achan etc...the sell most of VW aircooled parts. local made and import. some time there is a NOS parts or used parts as well.  For performance parts is quite divicult arround here...mostly daily performance..not for race or all out performance.

I'm living in Semarang Central Java and have some VW's
- Panel van Turbos
- a Drag bug and Circuit race bug
- oval ragtop RHD and LHD
- and some project will be startitng on split bus'54, Crew Cab 65

hey Russell,  nope, i am not really working on the floor, Bedo78 from Indonesia above works for S601 from what he mentioned.

i am attached with a service company - downhole intervention - wireline, slickline, coiltubing tools. we do have our own versions of pupjoints as well, they are about 2 , 4 or 6 feet in length, usually 2-3/8", 2-7/8" OD.  Grin

you from Scotland, Ritchie? i assume Aberdeen from your job description?

i did my Bachelors there and did my intern with one of the companies in Dyce.  Grin

bedjo78;

how do you order your parts into Indonesia from the States? i find it a nightmare indeed. firstly, most retailers refuse to ship anything here; i later found out why. taxes here are even worse than Malaysia; which i thought was the worse i the world.

do update me on the show in Bandung. driver told me i am 2 hours drive away to Bandung only.

still havent found much time to explore the local workshops here. i know you guys have some serious cars here (Jakarta); but where are they??

found a restoration shop - bodywork and paint, impressed with the work. the floors are stamped by hand. 1.2mm steel plates.

guy's name is Pak Rolly. Pak is referred to as Mr. here. he told me there are shops here that can fabricate for me the original style interior for my 66. 66 interiors are 1 year only and i have not been able to locate them easy enough. let's see how Pak Rolly or the shops here can help me.

guys, meet Pak Akiun. he operates the parts shop here for many years. nice chap and i have told him and few other shops about the shops and parts in Thailand, so they can make contacts and start bringing in their stuff too.

Thailand has some very high quality parts, especially Baan Rod Volk's repro early bug crank handles, body seals, IMO equal or better than WW. Also told Pak Ahkiun to make a trip to Bangkok to find out himself.

Pak Akiun has a drag bug. 2386cc, Bugpack flanged crank, Weber 48 IDAs modifed by Jack Sachette in the States, secret grind camshaft  Cheesy , secret head ports.

scene is big here. the amount of IDAs and DRLAs all together probably more than the amount of Bugs in my country which is just 2 hours flight away.

they will be having their circuit race (something like a F1 race track) this weekend...they call it the VW One Make Race...i am still new here, but so far i know they have 1641cc, 1776cc etc etc...

drag is also popular here.

If you have more pics from those racers, please post them.I really like (love) what's going on in these "unknown" countries.
Didn't know that the VW-scene was so strong overthere.
