Didn't know that the VW-scene was so strong overthere.

will try my best. scene is very strong here and Thailand. Thailand makes very very high quality reproduction parts. the parts are way better than anything you can get from Brazil. i will post some pics whenever i see them.

Indonesia is a very big country, and they do have a lot of VWs.

David, i have contacted Bedjo78, he is about an hours flight from me and 12 hours drive i was told. yes i have seen his pics and he does very very cool work. he has a drag bug, circuit bug, splits, 2 oval rag tops.

most of the circuit cars have heavily modified suspension, raised gearbox for lower CG, modified rear subframes to use coil overs, modified gearboxes and of course, modified engines and brakes.

the have 3 classes, 1641cc, 1776cc and 2060cc.

they have these races every month, 10 times a year. so you can see they are very active here.

i see a lot of interesting things here and found some gooc contacts for my personal project.    i should say they also have a lot of talented mechanics.

Hey pupjoint ! Like the Ghia's war-paint. More pics pls., and thanks for sharing. These guys must pay fortunes to get all the "western" stuff overthere. I might visit Indonesia (Jakarta) in 2012.

yea everywhere in Asia including where I am from Malaysia, VW is a very expensive hobby, even stock condition.  Cost of parts doesnt really offset the cheap labour here. In Indonesia, population is huge, they have about 70 VW clubs country wide i was informed.

this 57 is owned by my colleague here in this country.  . he actually bought this car in this condition, inside a house, car was sitting on 4 jack stands, unmoved for 22 years he told me. i have not seen some of the accesories before, but basically thats how he got the car, but then i am not an expert with Ovals.
it is an original RHD.

Hi All...

been busy last year and no change yo visit the forums. but i did some and have a small chat with Peter and Jeff Denham.  to be honest we have to spend almost double or even triple cost you  guys in europe for parts. especially any performance parts that we order overseas. we need to paty custom for about 30-60% ....  Not many good quality parts arround local market, there is a view parts shop imported parts from overseas, but what they get is a cheap blank (no brand china crap) .... but that thing not stopping us to enjoy our hobby.

I think there aren't that much compared to what I see there on your pictures as far as vw racers, racing events.
There are serious setups here of type 1s but they are not that exposed or from a different area. I'm in manila.
