Ha ha... Good bet. Don't let old 'gorilla grip' Boom Boom torque your heads up. He would probably 'nip' them up to 180 ft/lbs instead of 18  Grin

I'm going to keep my centerline's for track use only now " due to them being race weight " so i've just got myself a pair of 5.5 Flat4's for up street use front .

so I'm on the hunt for a pair of 6.5 for the rear end , who's in the flat4 know around here ? my front's are second generation "smooth black paint but slightly better detail "
can you get these in 6.5 or am I going to have to get the more correct bobbly detailed third generation's Huh
input please !

Matt they were 10mm head studs, so best not do them to 18ft/lbs. Cheesy

Glenn I can get the 6.5 BRM's if you want some.

Call you in the next day or so.

See I know I'm Fickle  Roll Eyes

The 6.5 rears are just in , I just had to fit em up , even thow I need to replace the wheel studs all round and fit some 3/8" spacer out back  Roll Eyes
I really didn't like the front centerlines on my car so going to sell them and hang onto the rear 6"s for when i can afford some slicks for track day fun  Smiley

Brm's realy suit a lighter colur car. My 63 benefitted from black centred wheels.

Working my way through the bug's in my wiring , think I've got it now , just need to hook up the temp gauge , oil cooler and figure out why the tacho don't wanna play  Undecided

Still plenty to do out back , not too happy with the Oberg got to try and find some filters for it in the UK but I may change it yet , also gonna change the oil /fuel line fitting's to black AN's and get a fuel pressure gauge that works  Roll Eyes

Oh thanks for the link Mike , you should get that , I remember when it was the must have in a 70's bug  Roll Eyes

Well I've pulled the Oberg out now in favor of a system one ,
don't pay much attention to the hose fittings , these are all going in favor of some Earls fittings  Cool

only thing is the twin QP really didn't like that at all , so had to slice it up and stitch in a couple of 45's .

Thing is now I think it sits out too far , so looks like I'm gonna have to go back to a single large V8 style back box  Undecided
Think I may just get a Thrush box and a couple of 2 1/4" 180 bends from Demon Tweaks  Wink
Not too keen on that look . oh well  Roll Eyes

That looks like a non-merged system Glenn - I'm sure my Bugpack merged QPs tucked under much further! Don't go for the breadbin! Wink

It was a merged muffler before I cut it  Wink check out the clearance on the filter  Shocked
Still if I don't use it someone will get a nice fitting muffler for a regular non merged system .

I did run a Seranos  "Bread Bin" love that description when I first had it on the road

Maybe a black ceramic coated one won't be so much in your face  Undecided

i got it off Pierside parts years ago, but i guess there's a UK vendor too.
i'm pretty sure it clears the traction bar.

Well all was going well on the MOT till the brake test on the rollers when the master cylinder bailed out  Sad
Still better there than on the street , bloody patient parts !!
Gonna slip a genuine one in tomorrow from my old 67 that was tip top till i broke the car .

What was interesting was the inspector didn't have a problem with my american style plates  Cool altho I did have on the black and cream one's for the test .
Back there in the week for the re-test  Smiley

Oh and the new motor ran / drove real sweet
"Big thankyou Boom Boom"
but decided not to give it beans with only a handbrake to stop me  Wink
