Hey guys,
I have Mahle forged Pistons with piston rings delivered. I also have a full set of total seal rings. I'm thinking about just changing the 2nd ring to the total seal one and keep the rest original mahle.

What do you guys think. I guess that the mahle rings are maybe of better quality.

please tell me your experiences.

If youre willing to "waste" both sets, I would take the top TT ring (if it is the dual type) and then use the rest in Mahle. if  the TT set has a conventional top ring, I would take the Mahle set.

I use the Mahle rings with the Total Seal second ring set on my Venolia Pistons for my Unlimited Street car, Turbo & Nitrous with no problem. This was suggested to me by Roger Crawford @ Heads Up Performance.

Yeah, but you have Venolia pistons. That makes a difference.

My street cars have Mahle pistons with the same ring package, there is no difference.

the top ring is conventional. but for me it sounds logical, that the closed 3 piece 2nd ring would be a nice addition for improved output..

I have built a few engines this way with great results, but my second ring of choise is the Childs & Albert Z-Gaps that you can't get any more.
