i cant take the credit for the box conversion,  it was done prior to my purchase.  it has been re-worked and has extra gusseting,  hope i wont break it!

I'm kind of surprised there's only a few photos of Tod Fuller's KG

Found it on the NET with the following info:

purchased this 1962 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia in 1971 for $500 from an active USAF colonel (the colonel actually had his ‘grunts’ stick it in a hanger and spray it with the camouflage paint they were using to paint the fighter aircraft!).  We left it camouflaged but otherwise stripped it bare, reinforced the frame, put Porsche disk brakes on it and installed a Hewland gearbox.  We then welded up a set of VW Type I heads, ported ‘em, dropped in bigger valves, built a 1906 ‘cc’ motor (88 mm pistons/78.4 mm Okrasa forged crank) with dry-sump lubrication, a Sig Erson cam and then topped it all with Weber 48 IDA carburetors (182 HP@6500). I gave the guys with the ‘SS’ big-block street Chevy’s fits with that little car!

Maybe a bit narrower up front than I’d like but it’s the only way I can still run a 155 tyre.

Since I had 15x5.5s all around, I went with 165/65s & 195/65s. Both fit 5.5 nice IMO
