Not sure if this is in the right forum section, but........

I've got two type of pedals for my 58 beetle resto (RHD), and am trying to work out which on is correct?  Huh

The one on the left which surprise surprise, has the pin mount bits broken off and the stop bent to hell, I think is the right one for a 58. It flat, and has the bracket for connecting the S shaped arm bit.

However, I also have this pedal, which is in perfect condition but has the pedal bent backwards? (Which seems to be factory). Again it has the bracket for connecting the s shaped arm bit. Does anyone know anything bout this style pedal? I never seen one like it before?  Huh

Just wondered which one is correct for a RHD 58?

I was sort of thinking, could I just bend one on the right flat? Other than the bend they seem the same?

Finally, although many parts places list a 60-65 pedal, none list one for a 58. Could I just use a 60-65 one, or does it have that bracket with the bit the later roller on it?

Cheers in advance,

Dude  Cool

They both look knackered to me! 58's don't have a roller either large or small, I think I've got a diagram from the bentley manual at home which I'll and dig out for you. I ended mixing parts to make ours work!

Volkswagen parts manual lists the following

112721507 thru '57 (Roller Pedal)
112721507B '58 - '64 (Flat Pedal similar to the US spec pedal)
112721505A '65 and later (looks to be the one your showing)

Hi Both,

So i'm confused now?  Huh I know the 58 doesnt have a roller pedal like an oval (I.e. pre 58), and it also doesnt have the later flat pedal which runs on a cotton reel like bobin that was fitted on the end of the throttle arm (i'm guessing thats as Cymon Sez suggest the 65 and later one). Thus, isnt the pedals as shown the right style pedal for a 58-64, as it attaches using a s or z shaped bracket to the throttle arm, on the tabs on the back?

As for the pedal with the bend in it, it not just bent and knackered, as the sides arnt bowed out on the curve. It seem to have been purposely made like that?  Huh
I'd really like to find out what the deal with this is, as i've never seen one before?

Steve, if you could scan and send that diagram it would be really appreciated mate.  Smiley Got the rest of my pedal asembly sorted, just this to do now! Smiley

Cheers,

Dude

58-64 Gas Pedal itself is the Same RHD or LHD the pedal should be flat The Difference is the two Brackets welded to the Back Side the Long Looped Bracket is a Pedal Stop and the The Bracket the Linkage attaches to on a RHD car it has a hole in the Bracket on Both Sides where A LHD car only has a hole only on one side closest to the tunnel By the looks of the two pedals you are showing it looks like the owners were pushin a little to hard to get that 36 HP over the Hill LOL Grin Grin  Hope this Helps Grin
