Yeah, that's a cool book. Lots of early Porsche stuff in there as well. I especially like the sketches of a Karmann Ghia going together.

I got these parts (minus the pen) last thursday from Alejandro Martin. It's the parts I missed for my speedwell sprint kit. It was not cheap, but well worth the money when you look at it a bit closer. It shows so great craftmanship. It was supposed to be on a 1300cc in my '60 ghia. But I bought a very good and more correct 30hp to use instead this weekend. So it will be for sale. Watch out for the add.

Dan Post was a member of the Santa Anita A's, a Model A club I belonged to in the late 70's and 80's. A kind man and knowledgable on just about any automotive historical topic you could imagine. He wrote on A's, VW's, Cords, Rolls Royce and a number of other cars and machinery. He lived in Arcadia, the town next to mine. The book is worth a read, to reinforce the histroical significance of the mighty VW.

Santa was at my door this morning dressed up as a postman.
Anyhow:
NOS ZF limited slip diff for swing axle. Maybe it was used for test as there are additional numbers engraved and some boltes are missing.
Will go into my notch for 2010.
Can anyone tell me for what the numbers stay? Bruce?

I think you'll find Deano was referring to Sander's book, not Sarge's...

Well then, in the words of Rosanne Rosanna Danna, "never mind", although, I have never seen Dan's book with a red cover either.

Custom made SS brake lines with metric fittings for my buggy thanks to Eric "HotrodVW" Gwaltney. And it cost about half the price of just the flaring tool. He can do the flexible ones too. If you need some SS brake lines, HotrodVW is the man.
Thanks,

Thats funny, i was looking through the 78 catalog the other day, but the 76 is better. It gives a list of all the staff with pics:
Rita, Bea, Mable, Richard, Big Al, Tom, Bob, Rick, Dave, Lou, Barbara, Claude, Olive, Solex, Randy, Bobby, Debbie, Lee, Jerry and Scott.

There are 54 photos total.
Also includes Lightning Bug, Deano Dyno Soar racing the Flower Power Inch Pincher, etc., etc..

NOS ZF limited slip diff for swing axle. Maybe it was used for test as there are additional numbers engraved and some boltes are missing.
The engraved number is the part number of the finished diff. You've got an 8 bolt diff with bi-metalic discs, and no dowel pins. What's the number on the other diff?
It looks like the bolts that are there are way too long. You will need to source shorter ones or cut them down. I can tell you later what length of bolt you need to get so that it has the right shaft length after you cut it.
You will also have to take it apart to lube up the discs. If you don't, it will grind itself to death in the first few miles of driving. It is EXTREMELY important that you keep the discs in the right order and the right way round. It has been my observation that MOST ZF disc failures is due to the dummy who went inside previously and assembled the diff WRONG. The overwhelming majority of opened up diffs were put together wrong.
