The other day I got Bug Me Video's coverage of the 2002 VW Classic... that was the only year I got to go, and there's quite a few shots where my old '68 Bug is visible.  Good times!  Grin

Postman delivered a package from the Schley Brothers – had no idea what was in it as wasn't expecting anything. Opened it up to find they'd blown up a spread from Ultra VW which I'd done on Dan Gurney, had it framed and then signed to me by Dan Gurney himself! How cool! Cool Cool Cool

Thanks guys!

I was also a bit surprised to see a Golf in Ultra VW. But well, everything has to evolve if you want to keep it up to date and profitable.
And the reports about Schley's museum and the girls from back in the day are two bitchin reports  Cool

ok with you j-f , but at the beginning an aircooled magazine is with aircooled car , or do something like vw speed  with both  category (water & air) from the beginning and not going to change your magazine on the road

I kind of have the same feeling about Classic Porsche magazine.
It is supposed to be about vintage porsches, yet with only 5 issues in print there are already articles about new porsches that might be "future classics".

Sorry, but you're factually incorrect there, Fabs. Ever since issue #1, there have been features on water-cooled VWs – New Beetles, Type 25/T3s, T4s and hi-tech drag cars. No change there. But every magazine will always be 'fluid' and respond to market forces.

But this is a thread about what came in the mail today – if you want a chat about the mag, drop Paul Knight the editor a line at ultravw@chpltd.com and tell him what you think. Paul is always open to a chat! Me? I just want to write about old race cars and Lookers... Wink

Richard - what's the story on the valve covers? Not a name I'm familiar with!

They manufactured aluminum valve covers for VW, Porsche and Corvair back in the 1960's.
Their address was:

Thomas Automotive Products
1088 Independence Ave.
Mt.View, California 94040

I have seen an ad from them in a magazine recently.
I will scan and post it as soon as I find it.

Not acquired in the mail, but I've landed a pretty good stash of VW parts this weekend from a guy 15 miles south of me.   This fellow advertised some VW stuff in our newspaper (for which I work, lol) that he had for sale, including a set of Baby Dellorto carburetors for a really good price.  The other stuff was primarily dune buggy related, including a set of disc brakes drilled for Chevy wheel bolt pattern, a slave cylinder and some other things I didn't really need.
The carburetors ended up being really nice, very clean and complete other than no air cleaners and missing part of the linkage.  Then he proceeded to start giving away other VW stuff he had no use for, including what turned out to be an older (plain aluminum handle) Berg shifter, what look to be a never-used pair of S&S Headers' dual quiet packs for a 1-3/8" header, a chrome 36 horse doghouse shroud, a pair of Solexes off a late model Bus, 34PICT Bocar carb (bus carbs and this 34PICT are also very clean, free turning shafts, etc), and numerous other parts.  Got a set of gently-used 92mm Mahle p/cs, as well, for a minimum price. Also a crank/set of rods/flywheel combo for what I presume to be a 1600.
Turned out to be a mighty nice day in the VW parts arena...Grin  I figure I'll throw a few extra dollars toward the guy since he was unloading so much of the stuff for free, and that he was so willing to do so.
I've got to go back and pickup a short block and tow bar next weekend, as well.
