i never seen one like that ,  this one was in a motoring guide zach Huh , when this one was for sale ???early 60 or late 60's

I know I've seen a picture of one before, but I can't remember where. The torn up newsletter it came with is an EMPI Accelerator from '68, so I'm guessing that it's from around that time peroid. I think the long megaphone stingers came later.

Richard?

That stubby stinger was in the catalogs starting around 1965-66.
I have one of those and an nos "long 4-bolt" stinger (pictured) that was earlier.
(I bought all those nos Empi exhaust parts at one swap meet for $20.00 in 1990 !)

Richard, you should "loan" some of your Empi parts to the Schley's Museum so the rest of us mortals can enjoy them... "On loan from the esteem Richard Roth collection".   I'm sure they will give you your own glass display (they have added more since you have been there).

I haven't been posting stuff here but I've been picking stuff up here and there for my '67.

A while back I picked up some NOS '67 key blanks from Zach.

Got some photos from Richard Guarino, of the beginning of the Inch Pincher 3, the scoops being acetylene welded on the C pillar by the guy who painted the Candy Tangerine paint, "Eppie" D'Amico, and some snapshots of the finished car I had never seen before, and I think Richard has had them buried for many years.
I'll scan them and post them here when I have a few minutes to spare...

Let's see if these photos work out okay, the originals were all scanned together on an 8x11 sheet, so I am having to downsize them to get to the 256kb photo size limit...

I had never seen them before, so what I posted was true, and they did come in the mail yesterday. I had a feeling he had copied them previously and sent them to other folks, and that doesn't bother me one bit, I'm glad they are out there for everyone to enjoy. It's part of VW High Performance History, and as such, I think should be enjoyed by everyone in the industry/hobby/obsession

Well, this wasn't "in the mail" but it was in my mailbox when I got home from work... there's a guy up here, retired CHP, used to be a member of the DRA, knows Marc Buehler, Ed Craig, Frenchy, had a yellow late Squareback and was in the club before he pulled up stakes and moved up here to the redwoods... I had been bugging him to dig out his old photo album, and today, it was in my mailbox...Got Marc's and Ed's Splits, The Race Shop Fiat, lotsa DRA cars, and this photo...
I KNOW these haven't been seen since about 1979-1980, so there's NO WAY anybody has this one...maybe a clone, maybe close to it, but this photo hasn't seen the light of day since 1980...

Zach, I have no idea, that photo was just in the album the guy left with me... I've been corresponding with Marc Buehler on another forum, and he is putting together a website for the DRA car club he was in... I've known this CHP guy since I moved up here in 2005, and when Buehler finally surfaced, he and Marc talked for the first time in over 30 years... I told Marc I'd bug the guy, to get the photos, and today, he came through.

Okay, Dave, if you can remember that far back, with that inside joke, can **I** post some memories of the original, VWT, photo shoot ?

(yeah, you know what I'm talking about... I gave my word  that "what happens in Dayton, stays in Dayton" so you are a lucky man) Cool
