if ive done this right there should be a picture of one of my wheels
i had to resize the image as the file size was too big
i appologise for the crappy photo & the very dirty wheel, i really should give them a clean & polish. [ Attachment: You are not allowed to view attachments ]

THIS is the first generation Flat 4, we believe. Note how thick and square the rim is?
Sorry for the poor quality, but it's a bow-up of just one part of a larger photo of Tar Babe when we were first stripping it down...

Wow, they have Flat 4 cast in on the back? 5" wide? The main difference between the ones I have and post 2009 ones is the dimples on the flat part of the spokes and the part where the valve secures.

Baby got her new shoes today, just in time for the 18th annual KINGSBURG CAR SHOW on SAT. April 21. And again I'll carry the water for the entire VW community in Cali. It seems I have the only half decent VW in Central Calif. or all of Calif for that matter. Now this is no lame small town car show in the city park, we line the main streets of Kingsburg with hundreds of cars and thousands of spectators. If you're frightened by crowds or intimidated by triple 5 chevys with crate motors, stay home and polish your pea-shooters. Mean while an old timer who stutters will have a great time playing "show and tell" in your place.
That wasn't too harsh was it?

Thanks Glenn, This is the reason we got out of the VVWCA thirty years ago. The same old cars, the same old people doing the same thing at the same old shows.
We left and went to regular car shows, and eventually into the Concours circuit. We were well received, and I wouldn't trade that experience for anything.
Here's the bottom line...Share your car with the people who are interested. The majority have had their fill of t-birds, vettes, mustangs and fuzzy dice. They may not know Gene Berg from iceberg, but their still curious. To me the fun part is describing your car, and having them share their VW experience with you. Unless it's a toilet, there's no reason to be ashamed of your VW. Personally I will not put my tail between my legs because the car next to me has a 6-71 sticking out of the hood (I can take him).
IMO being cloistered is the fast lane to extinction....need I point to the now former car clubs to prove a point.
Now if someone will help down off of this soapbox, I'll shut up.

That's my thinking too Phil --- -- Went to a ProTouring event the other day and was thinking man a well setup Ghia with some HP could take these numbnuts ( the 2 fastest drivers were girls LOL) So that thinking has led to my new project -- see if I can kick some V8 ass LOL

Ok , no more rant. Went to our annual Kingsburg car show today, got there early for a shady spot. Ten minutes later they backed in a pro street Chevelle with a 6-71 sticking out of the hood right next to me. Next time I'll be more careful what I wish for.

Thanx! I collect old Hazet stuff, so I have a few Assistent's (different models).
But I only buy when the price is reasonable (I don't want to pay 700euro for a tourist for example
)

Those hubs remind me of some of the scary things people did back in the day to meet the weight to cubic inch requirements for H/Gas and I/Gas. Was talking with some people at the Schley home museum about this. The cars from the 70's would never pass an NHRA tech inspection today.
