Thanks for the kind words, we might not be that many VWs but the ones who are coming have the potential to pull some great times. I will try to improve my 9.72 really anxious to see what my new RLR Revolution 6 clutch system will do for my 60 time

The party though will be legendary  Grin hehe

See you tomorrow, Saturday will be the day according to the weather guys but what do they know...

I think its somewhat a shame that the vw racers out there(swedish) doesnt show up to this event (me included) when you guys put upp so much work and effort.
I said in an early stage that i would attend but moving,a new baby, and no garage has delaid my new street/race car build.
If you guys have the stamina/guts to put upp this event next year i will show upp that s a fact.'
If thers no rain on sunday i will show upp to watch you guys pull of some great timeslips. God luck both with the event and the racing

Home after a realy nice day at Kjula.

Unfortunaly BB broke one driveshaft during warm-up but was as happy anyhow. Tekken went out and did some test and tune and stopped on 10.16 today after some soft premier runns. I´m shore he will get some really good slipps later this year when he sortend out the small issues. The car is in great shape and drives straight as an arrow. Herman, allways nice ´to meet you. Ragtop did a finale round at 9,57 at the end of the day and was really happy when he came back. Pictures will come later  Grin

Finllay, a really big thank´s to BB and Tekken for a good day. So nice to meet you in person and talk to you. Hope you made it home safely after a nice weekend at Kjula.
I will get my dotter to send you the pics she took at the start as soon as she get the them ready for it. Hope i´ll see you all soon again.

We had a great weekend. Saturday was really good racing. If you had your car together you could run I think up to 6 times. I only managed 3 runs due to bending a pushrod. Tekken had spare ones (Thanks!) and we went to a friend next to the track and got it cut to correct length. Pulled a 9.57 at 243.6. Nice feeling. My 10th pass in the car.

Fredrik Nygren with the brown and white split ran a impressing 9.20 run not sure on the top speed but i think it was 248 km/h. Stian ran test runs and only for about 200 m passes and still ran 10.50 times. That car will be really quick.

The blue notch pulled a 9.83 i think. Doing 1.50 60s to save the tranny. Lots of power there.

The famous 1641cc bug had problems with his old clutch, totally toasted. He borrowed my old stage 4 and black magic disc. Still problems with slipping clutch, mostly due to not having enough shims to set it up properly. Then it burnt a head not sure why. The Pattes black fastback lost it´s flywheel.

Jyrki had some good runs. Not sure on the times.

Have lots of T-shirts left will sell them on SCC.

What an excellent event; the track and the whole area is very nice and there was so much to see at the Blacksmith race.

My results with the '65 street car were not the best possible. 1st pass I lost traction at launch (1.50sec 60 ft) and ran a 9.82/225. 2nd pass was even worse; I bogged the engine big time (rpm dropped to 1800rpm, engine almost died, 60ft 1.64) and ran a 10.16/225. 3rd pass started out ok with a decent 1.36sec 60ft time, but then the engine lost power before half way, resulting in a 9.88/195. I have not yet checked what is broken...

Thanks to Johan & the Turbo Town gang for arranging the VW class and everyone for the nice weekend!!! It was great to see all the Swedes and Norwegian guys again. I wanna also thank everyone who helped me over the weekend.

Back to reality again after a fantastic weekend in Sweden. A BIG thank you to everyone and especially the hosts and Johan. I really hope this is a event that has come to stay and I hereby confirm that I will be back  Smiley

It took us 6 hours from Oslo to Kjula with two breaks and with a easy tempo. Kjula Raceway is held at a former military airport and the track is 2000 (6560ft) meter long. The track is fully prepped and very wide. The area around is concrete and there are small hangars where you could find nice food and a playground for the kids. A few hundred meters from the depot places there was a barn where they held a concert without waking up the racers. When we got there we quickly got escorted to our depot place and the tech spec checked our cars on Friday evening. Turned in early on Friday night when Johan offered us to sleep in his race bus. When we woke up on Saturday it was sunny and warm. A lot of cars had arrived while we were sleeping including Tekken with the new version of his amazing race car. The race organizers was pro and they took good care of us all the time which was really nice.
I pre-heated my car and took it for a short drive and everything looked OK. I was told that the traction was great so I decided to do a short burn out and had quite a lot of pressure in my DOT tires. My friend Torgeir guided me perfectly in the water box and I built boost and let the clutch go in 2nd gear and did my best burnout ever. But it was not short... In front of the lights I used the ALS function again and built boost, a quick look at the meter told me that I had around 1.6 - 1.7 bar. I pre-loaded on the line lock and blink blink bling - GO! BANG BANG BANG and I could count the teeths breaking on my ring/pinion  Cheesy Thats racing and using a T1 gearbox it is only a question on when and not if it will break.
If the weather forecast for Sunday had been better I would have called someone back home and asked if they could bring my spare gearbox the 300 miles from Oslo but they forecasted rain and I decided that the race was over for my part. Instead I watched the race and helped others if help was needed. The most eager guys got 7 rounds of racing on Saturday and I think that is more than enough for most of us. Congrats to Fredde and Johan with the new PB! Niklas with the 1641 toasted his clutch but quickly replaced it with a black magic and a stage 3. When the race was over the Turbo Town guys invited us over for a bbq and I could not think of a nicer way to end a good day.

Again thanks to the guys from turbo town and also my brother, Fritte and Torgeir. JLH and the guys did a day trip and got a nice sun burn before they headed home in the evening. It was nice talking to you Bugster and I hope we will meet at SCC. The Turbo Town Shootout was a great event and they deserve that a lot of cars is coming. The capacity is there and the track is good enough for all of us.

What does it take for a Norwegian to turn Swedish? Apart from a fast turbo car...  Smiley

See you all at SCC!

After some tire kicking and drooling in some of the cool garages we droped of the squareback at ragtops place and headed north to pickp upp my longblock and new oval projekt. At least i got the t-shirt  Smiley
Hope to se you guys att scc but there will be some hard wrenching to finisch my car untill then but i will try.

What a great saturday. Fantastic to see some VW-racing again. Thanks to Johan, Stian, Torleif and all the other nice racers that allways seems to have time to speak with us VW-fans.  I hope that this event will return next year and will do my best to get my own car race ready.

Great report Kalle! and fine pictures were taken.
Sorry to hear about your tranny failure. You do remember what your DTA ecu asked you when you engaged the ALS function right?  Grin
So curious what you will run with your combo when all stays put and you're on a good track!
