yes the sump on the picture is my sump and it's an empi one
 

Fabs what's the indentification number on your canadian Empi sump ?

My Lang sump is #LVW5 and the breather box is #LVW10.

By the way, maybe it's just by chance, but the "W" in the id. number of both parts seems scratched, something about copyrights with VWOA ? All letters and numbers are easy to spot except the W that you can barely read.

I picked up this one last summer from Marc.  I guess he decided to use something else on the split.

I don't think the faint letters have anything to do with VW.  They weren't as agressive back in the 70s.  Notice how some of the other letters in yours are also faint?

A "made in Canada" sump, no brand on it, but it must be made by Lang.

Here are the original silk screen negatives for the Lang Sumps. As you can see these were to "tag" each sump to a different company.
CB,Scat,Empi,Sandmaster etc. This was a big cost savings to Lang as they now could make one sump for everyone.

   I am amaze how nice of pieces he made over the years. He also designed the Duval windshield frame for the 32 Hot Rods. The ghia had the one piece front and rear bumper made of solid brass or copper.

That was Brad Lang, Gary's son.  Brad made the patterns to make the bumpers.  Due to the shape, he had to make them from 3 pieces, from solid brass.  Then they were brazed together.  It took him many hours of sanding to get them perfectly straight, ready for chroming.
