Driving Hot VWs for 44 Years Strong!

« on: October 26, 2010, 08:31:03 am »

I've spent way more time on the back end mods of my 66 than I planned on.  Still, it will be nice when finished.  I tore off the old apron I made from 20 guage metal and redid it with a stock rear apron (heavily modified) and used 18 guage for the new sides, exhaust cutouts and other mods.  Finally have it back ready for primer and paint.

The rear apron, side panels in the engine compartment and the heat shield are all removable and come apart. Makes it easier when changing motors.

Trying to get the paint close was 4 trips to the painter, test painting, drying over-night and finally just calling it close. It looks different depending upon the way light hits it, so it is what it is for an 8-10 year old paint job on the car.

Only have a few weeks to finish in time for the GOODGUYS Show here in Arizona in mid November.  YIKES!!!

Rick,
Looks great. I am hoping to get my dad's old car out for the Goodguys. I have been battling a bad back so we will see. If not I will be there as a spectator and will keep an eye open for a yellow chop top!
Good Luck

No Good Guys I want to enjoy the day and not having to stay next to the car all day. So I will be walking around and check out the rides.
