Anyone have experience of AA perfomance 104 mm b+p`s for type 4 engine? They seem quite cheap.. :-)

This is a few year ago when AA did start to sell cylinder, I got a sett 101,6mm cylinders that was rely out of round. It cost me more to fix them then I payed for them.
They may be better now, I don't know?

 Thanks for replies guys:-)

That web site is very interesting thanks.
What would be the best size piston,  I see there are 105s available.... wow. :-0
I didn't realise there were chromoly rod available for type 4.
I been told by some, the 2.0litre journals are a weak point, is this correct? Or would the moly rods fix this...?

I start thinking about one thing for my engine then get a thousand ideas extra...

I run AA in my engine and they work well after a stress hone. I have never seen a cylinder that is round out the box and they all have too rough honing for my taste as well.

Most of the time they work anyway, but your engine will run hot in the beginning and your oil will have metal particles from the pistons and cylinders.

I haven't had any probs with the 2.0 journals,  the last 8 years i have run a 78mm Demello with Pauter CroMo rods and 103,5mm P/C
with turbo maki´n 585 hp at the wheels  Smiley Redline set at 8400 rpm

The 2,0 ltr journals are nearly the same than chevy. The problem is that the diameter is small and the rods are wide so you have less material at the crank. A type1 or porsche for example is bigger and the crank is stronger and does not bend so much.
On a type 4 case you do not have problems like type1 because the case is stronger .

how do you determine the length of con rod you need when you go to stroker crank? can you use std length?
