sorry for this inquiery, but it has confused me for some time now. what is the correct setting of your endplay on a crank? is there a difference between a standard engine and one that has bigger crank,... and will turn at more RPMS?

standard vw manual states 0.0025 (some say 0.0027) to 0.005 inch with a 0.006 max (0.065 (0.067) - 0.15 mm)

KS interchange manual advices use a larger setting as much as 0.010 inch (0.25 mm)

OK i understand that, but what is needed for a street and strip engine? i just want to make sure the engine doesn't eat the shims or gets stuck on a bearing.

VW shop manuals say 7-12/100 mm and for a street and strip engine I would aim for 10-12/100 mm.
Remember to deburr new shims and used shims should be avoided if the have any signs of wear.
Keep parts very clean and use a dial indicator.
