Today I got my rear apron ready for paint. The header hit the apron that´s why I needed to do something. It seems to be nothing special but it was a tough nut to crack for me as I´m not very familiar with the shaping of sheet. I'm very happy with the result. That´s why I´d like to share the pics. That definitely was learning by doing... Cool topic How did you do the center 'hole' without welding? Just a hammer and hours of work?

@ Nico: As said above, this exhaust is a selfmade by Udo Becker. I found a pic where you can see how it looks like when it´s not mounted. [ Attachment: You are not allowed to view attachments ] @ vwcab: Thanks for your interest! This picture is without engine, bumpers,... so the look is a bit "ass up" [ Attachment: You are not allowed to view attachments ] @ rebel: After I cut out the section that I wanted I used a caliper to bend the metal the direction I wanted it (just a little bit). The rest is hammering...hoping...hammeing...hoping...

Thanks ! How about the sound ? Loud´n clear! Haven´t had it on the street yet. Hearing it in the shop I´m a bit afraid in consideration of my friend "TÜV" (technical service in germany).

Thx for that pic. (nice garage btw) Matthias, what is the enginesize and the year of the bug? Engine is a 1920ccm. Car is a 72 Standard with some ... I call it "Bastard-modifications" like the wrong rear decklid that came with the car when I found it. I don´t change it for now as I´m more into getting it going than having an all original body. Maybe I´ll change it back to 72 later...maybe!
