WHAT'S UP WID DA BOOM BOOM???

« on: December 10, 2010, 03:31:08 am »

Having, I think, finally achieved true "hot vw" status with a nice engine and built trans combo for my '67, I should give a small shout out to some great people.  Think of it as a highlight of what a unique community we are lucky to enjoy here at the Lounge.

Thanks to Dave Rosique.  I broke my stock box in May this year and a passing PM to Dave got me on the road to having an Ed Faulkner trans under my car by October.  Plus, poor Dave was always helpful in answering my newb questions and sending me a few spares.  I think a few times I was watching the clock until "ok I think Dave's probably left work, he'll have the answer."  Of course, he had no problems busting my nuts by returning my call while ordering a Double Double at the In-N-Out Burger.

Thanks to "uncle" Jim.  Also endured lots of obvious and over-thought questions of mine, in addition to help with bits and pieces when needed.  OH and the dreaded >>jetting questions<<!!!  The coolest part of seeking help from uncle Jim is easily the classic stories of mischief and broken junk.  Thanks buddy.

NO thanks to Mike Maize.  Too busy driving his non-broken car too lend a hand.  I'll see you at the track next season, pal.   Angry Wink

Thanks to my neighbor Doug.  Not a Lounge member.  Huge help with key machine work and trimming and fitting of parts to get me on the road.

Thanks to "Ohio" Tom.  Took my boxes and bins of parts and turned them into awesome, reliable horsepower.  I really wanted to build the thing myself, but the time and honestly the confidence just wasn't there for me and I'm glad Tom agreed to do the build.  Now every time I put the pedal down I enjoy the madness instead of worrying.

Bruce and Jason Foster answered some questions for me, and probably some others I forgot.  Thanks and sorry if I did overlook.

Thanks to the Lounge, its admins and members.  THE BEST spot on the web for hot street car talk and pining for the old days.  To be able to rub elbows with our peers and heroes alike — truly an inspirational place.

Sorry for the lame post, but it was the right thing to do.  Happiness really is a hot VW (RIP S.O.B.)!!!

It's a chronological list.  Dave just was the most recent to help.   Shocked Grin  I couldn't help it.

Not lame at all - I think it's nice to show appreciation for those that help out, especially when they are known here too. Not that people help out friends for recognition, it's just for the feeling of helping out. As the recipient of a lot of help from some good fiends recently with my car, I'm looking forward to paying that help bck with helping on theirs. Does that make sense?
