I ever read about using 48 IDAs on powerful engines and dragracers , i drive my engine with 48 IDF .As i changed the 40s into the 48s it was a big difference and can drive much higher rpm than before.1500 more while using 40 webers.
I kno that the IDAs coming from shelby cobras and should be a good race carburator.so what is the advantages instead a idf.

The biggest difference between an IDF and an IDA is the accelerator pump. IDFs has a diaphragm pump and IDAs have a plunger style pump.

Changing over from 48 IDFs to IDAs won't make as much difference as it did when you went from 40s to 48s, but there will be a noticeable difference.

Mark Herbert said it best:
"48 IDAs go to eleven!"

Traffic accident. All that needs to be said. God rest a great man's (and a great friend's) soul.

I have found out it is a question of the enginesize . Cam , heads , valvesize is very important . I had some 2,0 ltr engines on the circuit track some years ago . Hp from 170-185 .  We tried both IDA and IDF on one of the 170 hp and there was no difference. On bigger engines it makes a diffenence ...

Hi udo

I'm still doing circuit racing in 2L class. Please share with me your engines spec.
We have run idf. Ida and drla48. We like drla for all arround rpm. I'm running CB 044 oval and wedge port with webcam 122. Will 86C works on circuit track?
