No that's not Mark's car in the first pic... That may be Henry Mayeda's car. Mark's car was Cal-Looked recently.

 Roll Eyes

Whatever... go start your OWN thread.

Anyway, moving forward; D.K.K. member Dave Purnell still owns his 1970 Cal Looker that he built in 1979.

It started out life as his dad's daily driver as Yukon Yellow. He had it sprayed Porsche India Red, and added EMPI 14" & 15" eight spokes. When Dave and I were building our cars together, I worked as a mechanic at his dad's garage, right after Frenchy had left to go work for To#¤ta. Dave still has this car and the license plate: CA LOOK. AWESOME! Car still has it's D.K.K. club stickers, too. Now THAT'S a survivor... super fast two liter/48 IDA engine still runs hard, as well.

D.K.K. is lucky to have so many surviving Cal Lookers in it's midst.

Fabian, if you're referring to the light blue car on this side of the Oval, that looks like Tod's Blue Hawaii. I forget which issue and what magazine it was featured in. Those BRMs ended up on Dave Kanase's black car, too. But if it's the car on the other side, that looks like one of the Dean brother's cars. I have a picture of my car with Fuchs 2.0 Liter wheels next to Dean's '67, somewhere. I'm sure you can find it quicker than me.

Tod's Bug was a '65, too... IF that's the car I'm thinking of. I'm old and the memory tends to fade.

 Grin

By the way, that picture has been poached by somebody... the original one hangs in my house, framed. It's 8"x10" and my childhood friend and photography mentor, Ray Zimmerman, climbed up in a tree at O.C.I.R. to capture that shot. It won him an A+ for a college photography class project, displaying color. I watermarked the original version... since then, someone's cropped out the rest of the club display in the background.

That would have been Mark Dean with the '67.

Who pissed in your Wheaties Gary?

Lee asked for original Cal-look cars from 70s and 80s preferably unrestored... he didn't specify that they had to be running.

Don't be an ass!

Where's the Like button?

Back on topic; it's amazing how many Cal Look VWs are still around. Gives me great hope to someday find my first one.
