Fabian, if you're referring to the light blue car on this side of the Oval,
 Grin

mark for me the car looks white  Roll Eyes so thta's why i was thinking it was mark R. 67 ,

By the way, that picture has been poached by somebody. I watermarked the original version... since then, someone's cropped out the rest of the club display in the background.

mark it's me who cropped the pictures , I thought that by refocusing it, she would seem bigger
sorry for that

No worries, Fabian... Tod's car was very light blue and appears white in some photos. Don't worry about the picture, either... once images are on the 'Net, they tend to get poached and redone. Long as there's no one claiming to have taken the photo and putting their credit on images... that's what I don't get. People are lazy and can't create their own memories.

I think it has to do with WHAT CARS ARE STILL RUNNING! I call BS on some of this stuff.... Let's start a new topic...!!!

 Roll Eyes

Whatever... go start your OWN thread.

Anyway, moving forward; D.K.K. member Dave Purnell still owns his 1970 Cal Looker that he built in 1979.

It started out life as his dad's daily driver as Yukon Yellow. He had it sprayed Porsche India Red, and added EMPI 14" & 15" eight spokes. When Dave and I were building our cars together, I worked as a mechanic at his dad's garage, right after Frenchy had left to go work for To#¤ta. Dave still has this car and the license plate: CA LOOK. AWESOME! Car still has it's D.K.K. club stickers, too. Now THAT'S a survivor... super fast two liter/48 IDA engine still runs hard, as well.

D.K.K. is lucky to have so many surviving Cal Lookers in it's midst.

Mark,do you have more pics from this car, maybe "resent" ones?  Wink

Don't have any recent shots, sadly. Next time I'm in Arizona... I'll meet up with Dave and get a few. Sorry. The car still looks the same, though. He was very smart and properly stored it since the late '80s.

Yep, I plan on it... one day. I remember when he got it and couldn't believe that no one had taken it at that point... which was around early '80s.

OK, since everyone is starting or has to start a new topic, i am highjacking this one to talk a bit more on Todd Fullers car...  Grin

it was featured in Volkswagen classics fall 1983. together with a very nice yellow convertible ghia. and somehow i though this was Tod's car from another topic, but that is something else.

anyway that 65 is one hell of a nice car and sums up a good mix of classic callook with some 80's toughess, like the mirror, the blue tin and enginesize. but i would like to know a lot more about it and especially see some more pictures of it. sorry no scanner to share the article or pics

on a sidenote there are some more nice cars in the mag, they belonged to the workers of the Lakewood Motors agency.

Tod is one of those guys that has a great eye. He KNOWS what looks right on a car, from stance to wheels color combos. He's been one of the biggest influences on me.

After Bugs For Breakfast this month. I followed him home as he drove his '59 and the car looks BITCHEN (no other term fits) in motion.  Wink

The '65 was his daily driver and it was much nicer than my club car... let alone my DD.

Tod's '65 was one nice car. As for the Lakewood Motors cars... I'm wondering if Marc Souter's(sp?) Bug is one of those cars. That article might have been done after he left that dealership, though.

Thread from the dead! Cheesy

Can't believe no-ones pointed out Mike Mahaffey's split in Ultra VW magazine this month, in the Mooneyes show report! IF indeed it is the same car, someone has had a taste by-pass. It looked better in red on Page 1 of this thread, but not as good as it did in green, and its hard to imagine it looking worse! White window rubbers? Shocked

Ah, don't be too sure about that Split in Japan. I took a bunch of photos of it, and sent them to Mike and Ed and they both said there was way too many changes from original (when they had it), for those to not show up now. They seriously doubt it. (things like the rear apron, heart taillight lights, license plate light and many more... The last they hear about it was in fact still in Hawaii...
