One wheel is "genuine hardwood", the other is "securely bonded hardwood fibers" Good eye, Lids. I missed that. I wonder if I can tell which wheel mine is, looks wood to me, but then they both do!

I think you have the GT rallye if the code on the box you posted is correct, later catalogs the codes were different than the one you show

Good post Zack.
Which brings up a question I have had...what is the difference between the 14 and 15 in wheels? is it the 400mm and 380mm? comparing the two wheels side by side, the spokes are a little different where the slot starts and stops and the rim itself is about 1" smaller.....
Are there more that just those three styles? What about the Datsun wheels? Differnte diameters?
I passed on a 14" Empi wheel because I was unsure of it being genuine since it measured 14-7/8",...my 15" wheel measures 15-7/8". any pros out there with infor would help.
What is the difference dimensionally in medium dished and deeply dished?

There is no such thing as a 14" wheel. There is the 380 (roughly 15") and the 400 (roughly 16"). I don't know why people insist on calling it a 14, probably the same reason they call it a GTV wheel when it's actually a GT wheel

Good to know, so how many different Empi GT steering wheels were made? Just the three pictured, or did others use them too?
Datsun?
American Cars?
thanks, p-

Ask him to measure it, I bet it's 380mm (15").

The top photo of the tan car seems to have a "cobbled together" wheel made from parts from different models. A restained rim, hence the darker color wood. And a reproduction Empi GT badge.

The large padded hornbutton never had an Empi GT badge in the center, it was just the Empi globe logo.

i know that , but oli made something different , and how many chance did you have to found an empi globe logo i'm still looking/searching after one for my padded horn button since several years , never found one , yes one at the bug in 33 and it cost more than 250$ it's expensive for that item

There were 3 versions of the big button wheel. Leather wrapped, simulated " rose wood", and real wood.

does the leather wrap big button wheel share the same boss kit as the wooden/flat4?

does the leather wrap big button wheel share the same boss kit as the wooden/flat4? No. Original EMPI big button wheels have a integral boss, non removable.

Ok an education lesson for you....... In Europe and ROW we have 12" to the foot = 300mm In America (only America) you have 10" to the foot = 300mm 1" in Europe is 25.4mm our inches are imperial, the US are metric inchs Hence when we talk about the size of our manhoods we are honest, you guys are not, hence tha US saying " is it in yet" that's why American girls like us Europeans lol
