It's old school for a reason

I've installed a set of sway away race axles and just wondering if I've installed them right

they are marked left and right on the ends of the axles

My question is, is it left ( and right ) looking from the rear of the car or the front. If that makes sense

or are they marked just for future reference when reinstalling them after a strip down

thanks in advance

I install them as if I'm sitting in the driver's seat.

Generally when car parts are marked left and right its based on sitting on the drivers seat.

The L & R marks are for reference only.

Exactly, once you use these axles on one side, you need to maintain that direction, and not swap it over to the other side.
